£130? I'll have a think... when would we need to book it?

What about from Rotorua instead of Tau?

Air NZ. Rotorua to C'church on the 19th, $136 each. Leave 12:25, arrive 14:20

Sounds perfect to me.

Book it asap to be on the safe side, talk about it tonight then do it that night if we agree.

Another thought we'd have to hire a Estate car when we pick up Venom.

OK. We'll talk to Noisy about it tonight. That's good, saves us 2 days. We also need to make sure about the hire car so he might have to check that before we book it.

I prefer the 'fly North' option. From the discussions Mike and I had yesterday, if we are going to see some whales, then it's a morning trip, and that is better served on a journey going South. Also, we would need to make two car hire arrangements if we split the holiday with a flight in the middle.

Also, I can't believe that we forgot to figure in a trip to some vinyards.

I'm not bothered about the whales really, I'd much rather not get on a plane the day after our journey out there if we have a choice and £50 plane would be much more preferable than £130.

Venom, it's better you study their itinerary carefully because if you're waiting for the disorganized brits to find you you're going to spend several days at the airport...

You guys had better look into this, because while I don't think it's true you have to consider their might be a one way premium for not returning the car...

To avoid crossing the Strait in a car just return it in Wgtn (thus saving a day's hire because a car in Wgtn is more of a hindrance than a help!) and pick another one up in Picton, also saving the premium of ferrying a car...

So, check about one way hires and the fees thereof. There is a chance there will be one, but then NZ is not as Capitalistically clued up to screw punters for every penny they can get...

Fear not, O Noisy One! You actually pass along the edge of NZ's Largest Wine growing region (Marlborough), driving from Picton to Kaikoura. There's a couple of Wineries along the road, including Montana...

Man that nz website is slow from work... anyway thought Id reproduce the options here

Quote:
Tumu Tumu TOObing Adventure for the whole family. Float and walk through a spectacular cave under the light of glow worms.
Haggas Honking Holes Full noise action! Do three abseils in waterfalls, rock climbing, grovelling, and more in a spectacular cave.
Lost World 4 hour 100m Abseil Abseil 100m into the Lost World. Then ascend through a spectacular dry cavern to the surface.
Lost World 7 Hour Epic THE ULTIMATE Abseil 100m into Lost World cave and take the WET way out - walking swimming & climbing along this challenging underground streamway
Not a big fan of absailing myself, done it a couple of times and found it quite boring... (that is I'd rather enjoy the view than worry about ropes and all that shit)

First pass car hire costs:
C'ch 12th -> Picton 13th Compact $228.38
Well 14th -> Taupo 19th Intermediate $489.38
C'ch 19th -> C'ch 28th Big-assed MF $916.88

That makes $468.48 (£141.96) for the Brits and $229.22 for Venom.

Tomorrow, I'll check out company discount.
