Well, my mother was banned from Poland.

Some of this old equipment was very Zen. The zen factor of a vinyl record is much bigger than a CD. The scratches. the cleaning attempts. The 15 minutes on each reel. The ruined saphire needles.

Fortunately I remember very little of that except for very brief flashes from my childhood. So I still feel young, although I certainly know that data can be stored on a tape and stuff, although I never had to endure that.

The disease existed since the early seventies in humans but only spread to america towards the end of that decade. Originally thought to be a homosexual-only disease and dubbed "GRID" (Gay Related Immune Defficiency) it was researched seriously only in the early eighties. The HIV virus was discovered in France around 83 or so, and linked with the disease by the Americans in San Fransisco. The first UK television campaign with the falling gravestone was a late-eighties phenomenon, though.

What? They made us watch a documentary about it in school!

You have all the social skills of a rabid pit bull that has been prodded with stunguns relentlessly for over a week. You're not doing that girl any favors; if you really cared for her, you'd take your poisonous attitudes and get the hell out of her life.

PH--Thanks a bunch. That actually helped me quite a bit in studying for boards.

Although you and I are very similar in age Mike, I would not really consider myself to be a child of the 80s, I remember very little about it and considered it to be crap at the time. I didn't really come of age until the 90s...so I suppose I am more a child of the 90s (well, teenager really )

How can you talk about the 80s without talking about music? Even though they did some of their best work in the late 70s, I consider the Talking Heads an 80s band. I have been listening to them a lot lately.

In a world
where people have problems
In this world
where decisions are a way of life
Other people's problems they overwhelm my mind
They say compassion is a virtue, but I don't have the time

So many people...have their problems
I'm not interested...in their problems
I guess I've...experienced some problems
But now I've...made some decisions
Takes a lot of time to push away the nonsense
Take my compassion...Push it as far as it goes
My interest level's dropping, my interest level is dropping
I've heard all I want to, I don't want to hear any more

What are you, in love with your problems?
I think you take it...a little too far
It's...not so cool to have so many problems
But don't expect me to explain your indecisions
Go...talk to your analyst, isn't that what they're paid for
You walk, you talk...You still function like you used to
It's not a question...Of your personality or style
Be a little more selfish, it might do you some good

In a world where people have problems
In this world where decisions are a way of life
Other people's problems, they overwhelm my mind
They say compassion is a virtue, but I don't have the time
(Here we go again)

Well after not having read that entire spiel all I can say is that when you ask for advice you don't have to take it. We are not in the problem solving business since it truly is none of our affair and insulting people who are not responsible for what actually happened is rather infantile. I am sorry life is treating you like shit but it ain't our problem oputside the offer of some possibilities of courses of actions which you can evaluate for effectiveness. No guarrantees.

I guess I straddle the 70's and 80's. My first music hero was Bryan Ferry. The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were big in the mid seventies. I hated glam rock, except Bowie, but liked the kind of heavy boys music that was the fore runner of punk - Bands like The Angels, an Australian group

http://www.theangels.free.fr/index.html

Then it was the eighties - and what a great party that was!

His posts, if you bothered to read the entire incoherent jumble, did seem to reek more of him defending himself than devilmunchin, whom I don't know how she can put up with this asshole.

I've been quiet on this whole issue, mostly because I didn't want to get involved (or make it worse). I supportted devilmunchkin, who I believed was truly hurt, the best way I could by simply being a friend that wasn't related to this crap.

DM, you want logic? You dropped nukes to stop an invasion. In the name of defending devilmunchkin, you demonstrated the foulest, most obscene, and just plain stupidest behavior I've ever seen on any forum (and I post on that incredibly nerdy civ site on occassion ). You call that justice. Two wrongs makes a right? Or an atrocity is justified by a wrong? Justice is blind. You're just an ass. And jusst to further draw attention to yourself (because, honestly, this is just about you now ) you make your posts broad enough to include every poster here, whether they did harm or not (whether they were even involved or not).

So now what? Devilmunchkin doesn't like you anymore ( ). Now you need someone to blame. So you come here to try to make yourself into a hero by blaming this forum. This forum, which wasn't involved until devilmunchkin. This forum, whose core members (and majority of those who posted anything in the related threads) were kind, open, nonjudgemental, and tried to make this a place on sensible conversation (compared to the bullshit you pulled elsewhere). And yet you blame this forum in the name of justice. Prosecution requires proof. So unless you can prove that over 133 posters (and they had all better be forum regulars) did what you accused them of, you don't have a case.

And another point. You didn't get Tia off devilmunchkin's back (threats from moderator's did), you incited them even further and made it more difficult to simply walk away. You stuck up for devilmunchkin in such a sick way that she would have been better off if the KKK came here to defend her. You didn't exposed any betrayal, you credibility was gone with your behavior. Devilmunchkin's own testimony demonstrated her side. If anyone added more to this, it was YOU. When everything seemed to calm down a bit. You kept showing up to play the macho man and make it worse.

I don't know what you know about logic (as you didn't seem to use any in your posts), but you certainly don't know shit about human nature. So here's a little advice that may be able to save your sorry ass regarding Devilmunchkin, who is far too good for you (so add spending the next couple of years kneeling at her feet to this). You don't know shit about logic so abandon it and all the crappy books that have warped your mind. Start over. And if you really care for devilmunchkin, act like a real man. Take some responsibility for your actions. Apologize. Show her that you care for her as a person, not as some conquest in your sick "logic" game. In short, drop the arrogant charade, and be a friend, boyfriend, or just a human being.

I'll give you a quick synopsis. Somebody was rude to somebody or maybe not, they might have done something bad but I'm not sure and they were all friends but then they all fell out and people took sides and now they aren't friends anymore. But then a lot of other stuff happened but they can't explain in any way that is intelligible to humans.

Or something like that - I haven't actually read any of it

Just like an Action Man (TM). Pull the string and off it goes - on and an and on - must be paid by the word.

Such an empty condemnation.
