Thinking about actually doing this this year... I think Kory mentioned doing it many years ago.

Idea is to write a 50k word novel in 30 days... 1667 words per day.

Are you a planner or a pantser?

I don't know yet!

Probably a pantser, planning sounds like work.

this sounds quite intriguing. I might give it a go, but the fact I'm going away for a week in Nov (and won't be writing then!) might mean it's not achievable...

I think you could legitimately start a week early in that case. I think it's the spirit of the thing rather than strict rules that's important.

Do they put it in book format for you? T'would be nice to have a novel on one's shelf. Or indeed as fuel in the wood burner

They don't really do anything for you other than help with motivation to get the writing done.

Sounds like a brilliant idea - but 1667 words a day - for 30 days...!!? Instinctively, that doesn't sound possible...

I've got a couple of book ideas which I occasionally add thoughts or ideas to when I think of them, but never truly done anything about. A friend of mine has just got himself published, which is an added spur - for about 10 seconds...

K_G mentioned doing some writing, perhaps we could all egg each other one?

To get the quantity of words done you have to just pump the words out and edit later. Apparently December is for Editing.

For me it's just because I enjoy writing but never actually make myself do it. This'd help me sort out some kind of routine.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I even enjoy the writing part - just the output at the end...

I'm game, if only to jump start the whole process.

I'm still at zero, but I had good intentions. The expert on laziness is in the lead.
