Counterglow Blood Bowl League - Season 3 SIGNUP

Right.

So we're on the final gameweek of season 2! WOO!

Next up, Season 3! There were some people who expressed an interest in joining the league, but felt they couldn't play last season for various reasons. And I think we might have some dropouts.

What you need to do:

Existing Season 2 Players
  1. Sign-up to say you are playing in this thread. Either with a brand new team or carrying on with your existing team. If it's a new team, follow the instructions for new players.
  2. After your final game, make any final team changes, upgrades etc then download your team
  3. Back-up your team to multiple locations. Once we close the season 2 league all teams will be deleted from the server.
  4. Make sure you've downloaded your team. If you haven't downloaded your team they'll be lost for ever. (or at least the last updates from your most recent game anyway)
  5. Make another post saying, "look, honestly I really have downloaded my team. I've attached it to this post to prove it."
  6. Once everyone's done that I'll close season 2 league. (and probably archive all the stats). All the old teams will be deleted from Blood Bowl Digital.
  7. Upload your team to new season 3 league.

New Players
  1. Sign-up to say you are playing in this thread and what race you'd like to play.
  2. Once we've got all the league entrants decided follow the instructions in the first post of the Season 2 thread about creating a new team, it should be a 1000 value, un-upgraded team.
  3. Upload your new team to the season 3 league, once I've created it.

I will play carrying on with my existing team.

Forgive me for not making it in a second post as per instructions but look, honestly I really have downloaded my team. I've attached it to this post to prove it.

You don't really have to attach your team. But if you lost it, we would all point and laugh at you and call you a retard.

You know, I've been tinkering with Goblins Vs the PC and have been quite taken with the random chaotic nature of their games...

But they're filling out quite nicely...

Or I could just fill my Orc team with Gobbos from now on? But I wouldn't get the secret weapons...

At the moment, I'm strongly considering a new team for next season. Probably Lizards.

Mobius, i would probably stick with orcs if i was you. Goblins vs the AI is one thing, goblins vs a human who knows how to exploit their weaknesses is quite another. Esp. vs. developed teams with plenty of Block.

Tau Ceti had said he fancied Lizzies, but not sure if he's around (and I don't mind having 2 lizzard teams anyway).

Illi was saying last night he might not rejoin for another season. He hasn't really enjoyed this one that much... so Wood Elves might be free again.

As you may have already noticed, I don't particularly care whether I win or lose.

But I'll probably stick with my Orcs...

Speaking of names, I used a dark elf name generator I found online for mine. Did 50 suggestions or something and picked ones I liked, and that weren't too long... As it brought up 2 with the same surnames I decided I'd put them both in the team. In my mind they are brothers, the Phil and Gary Neville of the Ravens if you like.

But whilst Dacoral has gone from strength to strength Daso can't buy an SPP, despite me trying to manipulate things so he can. Daso is now pure line meat for the grinder.

Just as a reminder I'll be on vacation and unavailable to play in august so unless the league starts in these last couple of weeks of July you'll have to wait for me.. sry about that.

A couple of questions:

1) I mentioned this to Funko but does anyone have any further ideas on any new players we might get for this season? I know Tau was interested but can we get hold of him to confirm? How about any other forumites or even poly scum or suchlike?

I think it would be a shame to go down to a small league again, and with apparently illi (and maybe the shaker?) not returning, we would be only 5.

2) How would people feel about me returning as the Greensox? They are currently at 1300TV. That would only rank them third or fourth tv by the start of the new season. As funko pointed out, woodies are likely to be available again, thus retaining racial balance, and this would also free up dwarves for any newbie who fancied joining with a very solid starter team.

And of course, they are in some sense still defending champions Anyway, if people are opposed, no problem.

I just posted a recruitment thread at the nerdy civ site. We'll see...

I'm not sure about the Greensox, how good did they get?

One thought I had (and posted there) is that if we get enough NA players we could have a NA division, possibly with playoffs against the Europeans for the finals.

We could also do home and away games. And I think we should if we go down to 5.

I would play (after buying the game first and getting an idea how to play), but organising games would be problematic at best.

I am still interested in trying this, but would have to take a look at the calendar. This looks like it will start in September at the earliest? I can make a final decision closer to the start date. If I play, it would be as Lizardmen.

It's still probably doable if you were keen...

Also, there's nothing to stop us from starting before Fist gets back as it would only be whoever was playing him that would be affected. Might even give Greg a chance to get his first game out of the way...

Well, I'm quite keen to play some more games now that my apetite has been whetted.

Perhaps we can do a BB mini league while we wait for the others?

The time difference would make it very tough to do. I live in GMT+10. +9 with daylight savings at the moment, blows out to +11 when we have daylight savings. And I work late shifts. So your 8pm is my 5am-7am depending on what time of year it is. I don't wake up until 9-10am at the earliest as I don't go to sleep until 2am.

So, my times and yours (using GMT):
Wake up: 9am -/- midnight
Go to work: 12-3pm -/- 3-6am
Finish work: 10pm-12am -/- 1-3pm
Sleep: 2am -/- 5pm

Subtract 2 hours from your times when we hit daylight savings (October from memory).

So realistically unless you're willing to play games after midnight your time, or at 3pm your times, it's just going to be very difficult. Weekends are slightly easier, but I do try and pretend to have a life and see my partner, so those times might be limited too. It is slightly easier post October when my wake up time becomes 10pm your time. But by then I might be in the UK anyway.

Think I'm 5 hours behind. I work at home 6:30 to 3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (usually), so it may be doable on more than just weekends.

If you are on Eastern Time that's GMT-5 yeah, so 3pm your time is 8pm Europe, which is the prime Blood Bowl play time!

What he's trying to say is that I'm a bit shit...

But if you fancy some practice matches against a human player, I'm definitely up for it.

(Clearly I need them as well!)

Quite possibly wouldn't bother KG either, seeing as to the best of my knowledge he's still officially jobless. I think it may cause some problems with the others though.

True, but it means two less games to worry about finding the time for - though it would still be up to everyone else to see if there were mutually agreeable time slots available.

Where there's a will there's a way etc...
