Haha, they were vaguely popular for a couple of months in about 2007. If you like them you might like some young upstarts called The Vines, or maybe a brand new band straight out of Detroit called the Stooges.

I have a feeling you're being a twat. The first album didn't come out til 2008.

And The Vines are an ancient band. I don't know The Stooges, but their name is awful so so is their music.

Yes, there were ripples of interest in the press, but then their album came out and people decided they were just your usual bratty bullshit.

And is the name "The Stooges" really worse than the name "Cage the Elephant"?

Yes.

I can staunchly say if "the press" had "ripples of interest" in 2007 and now they no longer have interest, they're probably a pretty stellar band. The shit "the press" (by which I assume you mean fucking crap like NME) likes seldom is of any lasting quality.
