The greatest musical autobiography ever?

Currently reading "Bad vibes" by Luke Haines.

Anyone familiar with Haines's work with The Auteurs, Baader-Meinhoff, Black Box Recorder and solo, will know the following two facts-

1- he has a really remarkable way with words. A genuinely elegant writer.

2- he's possibly the most misanthropic man ever to make music.

And now he's written his autobiography, and I can't put it down. It's hilarious, and staggeringly bitchy. I can't believe it got past the libel lawyers. For anyone who's ever scratched a living around the arse-end of the music industry while remaining firmly convinced of their undiscovered genius, this is the book to read.

May he live forever, and knock out some more albums in the process.

I bet it isn't as good as The Dirt though.

The other contenders for the title are Julian Cope's autobiographies, which have to be read to be believed.

"Bad Seed" about Nick Cave was interesting. *

BTW could you name a Julian Cope autobiography (with the publisher's name and year of publication if possible)

*it isn't a autobiography though...

Only read the Dirt, but i'd be impressed at anything that reached that level.

Agreed. And I ordered Mr Haine's effort earlier this week - defnitely looking forward to it.

I do recommend the Wreckless Eric one too.

Hmm, you once laughed at me 'cos I was reading that.

Can't remember if I finished it, but I don't remember it being very good. I'm sure all those thing featured, but it was pretty slow and hard going.
