Hmmm. Do you think that perhaps your family's history of relationships has shaped your own view and approach to them? Cos with that as a list of examples, and thus an environment to shape your views on marriage and relationships in general... could explain a few things I guess.

I shouldn't be trying to type a response to this at almost 3am after many beers and many bourbons...

But since when has that ever stopped me?

There are obviously major unresolved issues between you and the rest of your family. And I get the impression that by talking about them here, to people that you don't really know all that well, that you need to let them out. You need to talk about them to someone, cos they seem to be bothering you.

just can't trust anybody. I am brought up to believe that nobody cares about nobody but for himself. I hold that as the paramount truth of all things. So I'm not into that "giving" thing. Then I'm also into that giving too much thing. Anyway, no balance.
I'd strongly suggest spending the money to go see a psychologist. There are many people out there that think of a lot more than just their own selfish interests. Quite possibly some of them have been women that you have dated, but have been unable to see it because you can't trust anyone.

While I agree that there many people out there that don't give a shit about anyone but themselves, they are far from everyone.

Anyways, feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about it (now that PMs seem to be working again). Had too many beers and bourbons to type much more now.

So you have several decades of psychological warfare. Ok. What is your problem? What do you want? Unless you can settle that, you are going in circles and you will be the hamster in your psychowheel till you croak.

"the lawyer (bless him because noone had been so kind to me)"

I hadn't realised your life is THAT horrible.

And yeah, mate, that does sound like a pretty horrible family life. And that extends onto your personal life.

On the one hand, you have to realise that you can make a decision to not be the same as everyone else in your family. You don't have to be like them if you don't want to be.

On the other hand, you also have to realise that they have helped shape who you are now. Don't beat yourself up too much for what they made you. But also realise that you have it within you to change. You don't have to be what they made you, but it will be hard to break those shackles that they have placed on you.

As I said, a psychologist should be able to help a lot. That's what they're there for, and don't feel ashamed to use one.

Just one thing, mate. Don't ever try and use ladies to wallpaper over the cracks in your life. You need to be happy within yourself before you can start looking for a relationship, or you'll use the relationship as a crutch to make you happy. And that won't end up well.

But, hey, go out and see just where things stand with you now. Maybe you are ready, maybe you aren't. Only you will know that as things progress...

Eurotrash. All they do is wait around and jockey for inheritance. Come to the USA and kill buffaloes and Indians and get your own stuff.
