The dumb names of Free Online MMO's

I'm used to seeing these dumb banner ads all over any games site I browse, mostly poorly translated 'free' MMO's advertised with pictures of hot anime babes that are basically cash cows for low-cost in-game item buying. Classics include:

Fly For Fun
Dream of Mirror
Shadow of Legend
Twelve Sky
Tibia

But last week i saw the mother of them all:

Asda Story

(For non-uk residents, Asda is one of Britain's biggest supermarkets)

Sadly you can't go on a trolley dash. But they do have a 'guaranteed fun' event running.

The only one I ever tried out was the Mechwarrior ripoff Mechquest.

Looking at it from a fair perspective, at least these things seem to keep more than a few webcomic artists employed. =)

i played a couple actually, trickster online (typical korean 2d thing) and dofus (which is french, and flash-based with quite a unique graphical style). they were both fun in a limited way.

the games are pretty slick i must admit, and the communities are quite strong. they actually seem viable alternatives to big name paid mmo's.

MMO people are fun. It's hard to wrong with that kind of community.

Tension usually arises over issues of skill or reward, but the basic 'I want to play a game - with other people' instinct of MMOs solves 90% of the other issues with VG nerds.
