Wouldn't mind having a voice like....

Been thinking of artists/vocalists in bands with great voices. This does not neccessarily mean they are from my fave bands as there's no way Billy Corgan or Morrissey would be considered.

Am a fan of:
Serj Tankian
Layne Staley
Scott Weiland
John Fogarty
Mike Patton (to some extent)
Chris Cornell
Perry Farrell (unique & weird)
Dave Gahan

Most annyoing:
Ali Campbell from UB40
Dare I say... Liam Gallagher and Ozzy Osbourne

Who do the rest of you rate/hate?

Shit. Forgot to add Tom DeLonge from Blink 182/Angels & Airwaves as being the most annoying.

Ah, so you like 'em strangulated and high-pitched.

Me? I'd go for Mark Lanegan, Tim Buckley and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Why is there no way Morrissey could be considered? Nobody really sounds like him.

Cat Power has a pretty good voice too.

Harold Melvin-era Teddy Pendergrass. Or David Ruffin.

A unique voice yes, but on some of the early Smiths songs his voice sounds painful, such as You've Got Everything Now, What Difference Does It Make and I Want The One I Can't Have. His voice can be great at times and sounds fine on most of his solo stuff.

Diamanda Galas (!)
Corin Tucker
Kristin Hersh

You could say the same about Mike Patton. I like The Real Thing, but the man spent the whole record singing through his sinuses.

I quite like Axl Rose. Rather distinct voice.

Mark Lanegan, David Eugene Edwards, Serj Tankian, James Dean Bradfield and Nick Cave come to mind. And it'd be ace to be able to sound like Tom Araya, Nocturno Culto or Till Lindemann, although what they do can hardly be called singing.
