Buying a laptop.

To be used for work mostly, so around 1 GB RAM and 2 Ghz CPU.

Anyway, I want to ask - what should I look specificially after, apart from the guarantee?

It depends, as always, on how you want to use it.

Accidental damage cover, theft against insurance.... make that insurance against accidental damage and theft.

Pentium M processor ideally. Tends to run cooler.

Avoid Sony unless you like paying for really expensive spare batteries.

Acer pretty good all around.

Toshiba's you tend to lose all your data when it's time to reinstall Windows.

One way around that is to get a spare hard drive in an external HDD enclosure that takes 2.5 inch laptop sized drives - just swap the drives over and reinstall Windows on the spare, then rescue the data you want from the HDD that wouldn't boot to Windows.

I don't even know what the hell I was talking about. That must have been the second shift of Venom posters. I'll have to have a talk with them.

The BF just bought a Dell XPS M1710.

17" 1900x1200 monitor, 2GHz Core Duo, 2GB DDR2 667 RAM, and a 512MB GeForce Go 7900 GTX.

It's really sweet. Get one of them.

Errr, not while rock climbing or rafting if that's what you mean. Working indoors mostly.

Err, it would really be nice, but I'm looking to spend not more than around 1500 $ .
