Post Bell-ends beaten!

Gary Jules has pipped The Darkness to Christmas number one; his single "Mad World" beat bookies' favourite "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)" with Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne down in third. Avid Merrion debuted at four with the Pap Idols languishing in fifth spot.

What's wrong with the British public?!

A good song, not sung by some kind of puppet/boyband/ageing religious virgin, at Christmas No.1?

I almost feel ashamed...

Did anyone else find it amusing that, a couple of months after release, the Donnie Darko soundtrack started sporting ‘featuring Mad World by Gary Jules’ stickers?

I found it completely understandable. I'm just not that easily amused.

If it exposed more people to Echo and the Bunnymen, it's a good thing.
