QY700 Question

A question for the QY700 guru(s) out there.

I am doing a bit more work with this thing again and something strange is happening. Well, in reality, this idiot has clearly set something wrong but he can't work out what.

So, in "voice" mode I can set the voice I want and here it. However, when I come to record a new phrase in "pattern" mode all I get is an unwanted voice (which, very unfortunately, happens to be drums) but when the phrase plays - the correct voice is there. The trouble is, I do need to hear the right voice as I record this piece.

Any suggestions?

Rufus: You masturbate more than anyone else on the planet.
Jay: Shit, everyone knows that. Tell me something else.
Rufus: When you do it, you're thinking about guys.
[Silent Bob starts to look freaked out.]
Jay: [to Bob] Dude, not ALL the time!

Look it up on the internet. Sounds like a midi problem.

I know that problem. Use program change messages at the start of a pattern in pattern mode (though this may cause a little delay) and remove it later. You can set filters to select PC messages. Quite easy, once you found out.

I see. That seems weird, though. I'll give it a try mbut that's sure going to slow down my working.

So, is it that one midi channel overwrites the others? That seems a bit odd. I had some of this problem before but somehow I overcame it but can't remember how.

Thinking about it, I am not so sure if that really solves my problem. I am happy with the sound when the pattern plays, it is the sound that I hear while recording which is the problem...

Sometimes, if I go to a different screen I can make it become a piano sound. That remains while I return to the pattern screen thinking "Oh sod it, piano is better than drums, I'll try it like this" but as soon as I hit record it transforms into a fucking drum sound again.

When I play back the recording, the acoustic bass sound (which is what I want) is there again. What the fuck is going on, it shouldn't do this?

Well, I now have some form of functionality by loading in the old Last Food stuff....

This means I get some drums and everything else sounds like a piano. I am clearly doing something real dumb here but can't work out what.
