Yeah, or the Doo Doo Pistols.

Toki's brief was to do punk covers of really heavy songs. Now Debaser seems to want to turn us into a Stoner rock band.

I fecking hate this. Apparantly "doon Metal" wasn't cool, so what did Kerrang and such like do? They just gave it a new name "Stoner Rock" and now it's cool?? Candlemas would turn in their graves (if they were dead)

That's like the difference between the doors and rolling stones.
Doors being good stoner rock and stones not being good stoner rock.

No Doors are psychadelic rock, stones are rock n' roll.

Obiat, Queens of stone age, Candlemass are all doom metal

I don't think The Doors or the Rolling Stones are stoner rock.

They might be stoned rock, or rock to get stoned to.

Stoner Rock and Doom Metal might both come, ultimately, from Black Sabbath but they took very different directions. Doom Metal is like Sabbath with heavy 80s hair metal influences. Stoner Rock is like Sabbath with heavy late 80s and early 90s alternative influences. Stoner Rock all came from Kyuss who were the genre pioneers. They used to have huge stoned drug and rock parties out in the desert. Now Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri from Kyuss are in Queens of the Stone age.

So ultimately it is an image distinction, which is exactly what I was on about, the music itself is extremely similar.

At leat we can agree that the Doors and Stones are neither

Reasons why Queens of the Stone Age are different from Candlemass.

Lyrically:

Queens of the Stone Age - Drugs
Candlemass - Wizards, demons, sourcerers etc

Riffagely:

Queens of the Stone Age - Sabbath riffs sped up with minimalistic alternative solos
Candlemass - Sabbath riffs slowed down with huge overblown widdly solos

Imagely:

Queens of the Stone Age - Some guys wearing pretty normal clothes (or no clothes)
Candlemass - A fat swedish guy with a stupid name in a monks habit.

Coolnessly:

Queens of the Stone Age - Cool
Candlemass - The least cool band ever

Not really.

Only in the same way Green Day are like The Strokes.

Candlemass - Amazing both Lyrically, Musically and Aesthetically

You weirdos. The perfect song is exactly 3.30mins.
I wasn't suggesting that the stones were stoner rock. I would get stoned to the doors but not to the stones because they suck.*

*Except for 'Paint it Black'.
