Well when the US inevitably elects Trump, our dollar is going to be all but worthless within weeks, so I was looking for some potential replacements. Sure the dollar is so closely connected to many countries that when we fall into the next Great Depression, we'll be taking many currencies with us ... But I still figure some will have to be less worthless than others.

Do you have gold on hand? It's doesn't really count if it's in Fort Knox ... assuming the US hasn't already sold it ... allegedly.

Different setting. You have no established parties as in a parliamentary system to start with. Usually, you have no governing majority. But in Europe, a right wing populist party should not happen. That spectrum should be covered by the established right.

Put in another way: How successful would Trump be if he had to
a) take over the opposition party and work as opposition leader, or
b) start a new party and run for parliament?

We had a similar situation just a few years ago when Stronach went into politics. It worked as a one man show to some extent, but his party and his ego attracted such a bunch of losers that the project imploded soon.

The other explanation: The general swing to the right has not gone far enough for the US electorate yet.

My immediate response would be to disagree with this statement and cite the energy and relative success of Senator Sanders. However, after contemplating the depth and breadth of center-rightness of US "liberal" politicians I cannot disagree. I hope we prove to be better than that.

Basically all the deals available are shitter than what we had. So it's just about negotiating how much less relevant and how much poorer we are going to be from not much to massively.

Sanders is mobilising a small fringe. Just like Corbyn.

Politicians and journalists, the two most retarded groups in society, think they can censor and educate everyone else. That can only go wrong. The customer is always right. And usually much more right-wing.

If all shops refuse to sell beer, all kinds of people will start making beer. And if pols and journs are trying to sell only pinko-leftist opinion, all kinds of loons and snake-oil sellers will take over politics and media work.

Btw, EEA is no option if the UK will not accept the free movement of workers. So might be more a pile of bilateral agreements like Switzerland.

We don't have any negotiators who can do the work. The departments which have all the work to do have been cut to bare bones by austerity and can't cope with the extra workload.

We're fucking idiots.

You suffer from a lack of historical perspective.

Even the so called conservatives in Europe are quite leftist on many issues. There is a lot of room for improvement.

The current leftist mainstream will not die, it will just more and more become the looney fringe. As for the current left fringe, I suggest strong tranquilizers.

Nope.

I don't agree with that. But I'm too bored to explain.
If the conservatives are left wing is it because they don't want to do away with all the minorities? Is that a sign of left wingism?

Anyway, maybe some of the left wing is loonie however I think it's environmental more than anything

(see globalization above)

which makes it necessairy
