Arrow United set for "Group of Death"?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ue/2474183.stm

Quote:
Seeding Pot 1
1 Real Madrid
2 Manchester United
3 Barcelona
4 Valencia

Seeding Pot 2
5 Juventus
6 Arsenal
7 Internazionale
8 AC Milan

Seeding Pot 3
9 Deportivo La Coruna
10 Bayer Leverkusen
11 Roma
12 Borussia Dortmund

Seeding Pot 4
13 Lokomotiv Moscow
14 Ajax
15 Newcastle United
16 Basel 14.312
United have definitely got Deportivo, they will also have to play one of the three Italian teams in the second seeding pot, and then there's the potential for them to draw Ajax as well (providing that they don't draw Internazionale). United / Juve / Deportivo / Ajax anyone?

I hope we draw Basel, if only to show Liverpool how poor they are...

They're the best team in the bottom pool.

They should be. Haven't seen the other teams, except for Newcastle, who they can beat.

Well, if they could draw them they might, but they can't. Bad luck.

It would be nice to trounce the team that dashed the Pool's hopes.

no french team in round 2 (except for Arsenal), god we're broke in continental france...

I don't see MU surviving this stage, except if Veron can reproduce yesterday's from. Valencia, Juve, that would be my bet.

United have never looked vaguely troubled in this season's competition so far, except when we turned out the second reserves in Nicosia... admittedly we've not played anyone good yet, but we still have Keane and Butt to come back in...

Veron wasn't good yesterday. He had one good pass and somehow scored a goal, but that's about it.

I'd really like to see Valencia win it.

I'm quite hopeful, but that may just be the side effect of having to watch a dismal domestic campaign.

Valencia have played some fantastic football so far. I'd like to see them win it as well.

Basel aren't that bad. They also played some really good stuff. They need to keep hold of that playmaker in the winter transfer window though.

I think ManU can go through but I see them going out. They just haven't been good enough this season. Their first round group wasn't really a challenge. Leverkusen aren't nearly as good as they were last year.

I would love to see Valencia win it. They’re my favourite team in the tournament and they have been so close before.

Ajax are good, they’ve got some fantastic young players in Chivu, Mido, van der Vaart, etc.

I don’t fancy Juve or Roma to go through, but both Milan clubs should. I can see one of Real and Barca crashing out, despite Barca’s fantastic first group stage.

Oh, yeah, British teams. United are still the most likely winners, but I can’t see it. If one of United and Arsenal gets to the semis it’ll be a good year.

I think anything can happen this year. If you look at the first three seeding pots, you only have teams with a big name in it. And you shouldn't underestimate the teams in pot four either. I think the groups in this years 2nd round are so competitive it's really hard to predict how they will turn out. ManU could go through ... but they could also become last in their group, just like almost every other team.

It's been a while since we had such a good 2nd round in the CL.

It might be crap. The English, German, or Italian teams could all spectacularly underperform.

Newcastle could be. They have the will to win and the attacking flair.

They can't 'cause they did it last year so it wouldn't be a surprise... although everyone's writing them off so maybe...
