Ebeneeezer Football Stadium

Ebeneezer Football Stadium, today you will be shown your past, present and future.

http://www.stadiumguide.com/index.htm

Check out Valencia's future stadium proposals. They're whack.

They're fairly cool some of them.

It's depressing how many "future stadiums" are second-rate Stade de France ripoffs. The sleek, canopied hyperellipse seems to be the standard shape for almost everything...

In fact, looking through the list there's only a handful that actually seem fairly interesting from an architectural standpoint:

http://www.stadiumguide.com/millonarios.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/maladierenew.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/zaragozanew.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/brescianuovo.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/unionnew.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/marseillenew.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/artevelde.htm
http://www.stadiumguide.com/beijing.htm

Fairly depressing for a set of buildings on such a grand scale. Every one of them could have been unique landmarks...

The American ones are quite horrid. Little or non-existant architectural merit.

I also liked the Marseille one. the Berlin one looks like a train station.

My faourite is probably the Neuchatel one, which is designed to look like a normal city block.

At a local level, if you've seen the proposals for the Chatham Street Car Park site, they're planning something quite similar.

Just thought I'd share that with the World.

Whoaa!! We could have an award for "most improved"!!!

I went to the Lansdowne Road in 1997 and the concrete terraces were breaking up under my feet.

I don't understand why Juve's new stadium is going to be so small: only 40,000?

Those aren't real stadiums. Most of them don't even have a roof! The ice looks terrible.

interesting, I didn't know
probably because they always complain their supporters are rather cold, and they have much more spread all over Italy and relatively few in the Turin area...

On the road, Juventus generally draws sellout crowds; it has rabid fans across Italy.

Yet in Turin, Juventus' average attendance of 25,000 is only eighth best in the 20-team league, less than 40 percent of capacity at the unpopular Stadio delle Alpi that it shares with Torino. Despite playing in a lesser division, Torino draws almost as well -- 23,800 a game.
That's the reason
