Why do I always spot errors as soon as it’s posted? Gah.

Good review. I like the obligatory Ronglish in there.
![]() This actually sounds like a pretty decent game. |

And there's no reason a modern B can't be better than a B+ of 2 years ago. Things done changed, and with the release of all the most recent RTS games Empire Earths' rating could change.

Well fuck you then.
No screenshots because I still think the game looks pretty anonymous. I did grab one cool on, though, where thanks to a bug (it is a Big Huge Game) I apparently had a tiny space of territory with nothing in it, completely surrounded by my opponent. |

The game seems to be well received by all. But the price...the terrible, terrible big, huge price.

I'm kind of getting tired of RTS
even if this one is a very honest game, and I had reasonnable fun playing it (shortly - but enough to appreciate the concept of city borders, a good addition), the mecanics of building, attacking, sacking towns, winning (in the best of cases) under a tight timing now leave me frustrated. That's also why I didn't buy Warcraft and only played very moderatly at AoM, although both, again, are at worst very decent games (which can't be said of all the RTS crap out there). I've always been a turn based amateur, but I think it will be more and more so with age. In hybrid games like EU, or Medieval TW, at least I can pause, sit back and issue orders, and I don't have the frustration of feeling half the game's fun is flying past me. |

Amen.
I can have fun with RTS for a short time, but it doesn't hold my attention at all. I do NOT do well in multiplayer, and am not willing (or often able) to put in the time to get good at it. On the other hand, I still play Civ2, Moo2, and even Allied General. Of course, I've only played CC:Red Alert, Starcraft, and Age of Empires in the RTS category.

Yeah, but those are the best of the best in RTS so I'd say that's a fair sampling.

I think RTS, like most FPS, is basically multiplayer at heart. I can play with people I know, and in the case of RoN, one person in particular who is almost exactly at my skill level overall. He’s better militarily, especially in the late (boring) stages, by my economic skills keep me in the hunt.
