Post Call for LWP4 Participants

Hello all potential participants in our most cherished forum game, LWP, where the aim is to compile a CD of tracks that the participants for the most part cannot discern the origin of, both artist-wise and sender-wise. And then review them. Sign up below!

The gimmick that we've decided on for this round is "one you hate". Based on that, each participant will have to be willing to fill between 11 and 19 minutes of time with music from their record collection, consisting of: (a) one song that they really dislike and (b) as many songs as they want that they like. Please don't make (a) too obvious- guessing the supposed duds is all part of the cheerful paranoia of this activity.

Deadline for participant roll call will be Sunday the second of february- time will be allocated based on the number of participants at this point. So, all of you that have music and a CD writer, sign up for hours of strange reviewing fun.

Oh, and if you really, really object to the setup (or any changes to the setup) please say so. If it turns out our participation will be doubled by dropping the "one you hate" rule, then by all means we will, but one or two dissenting voices won't change the majority vote.

I bought one, and I'm probably buying two more based on that one and LWP3. So I will at some point be up near your number, but alas not yet.

Which ones did you buy?

You'd hate them. The Finch album and two Queen Adreena albums.

I had a really good idea for LWP4 earlier tonight. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was. Regardless of the format I'm in for this round though.

Just a suggestion. If the numbers become unwieldy, how about including people on a "review only" basis? Presumably just volunteers, unless anyone feels Nazi enough to enforce it.

Here's how I'd work it.

The compiler automatically gets a submission berth. The rest is open to chance, with submission slots being drawn for up to a maximum ceiling. Those being unlucky are still invite to participate on a "review only basis".

If I was doing it, I'd weight the draw in favour of new participants, but that's just me. This would be a move to avoid having 5-minute allocations of time, or a triple-album.

Any thoughts?

I'll try and take as little time as possible 12 minutes or so, and leave more time for people that actually care about music.

So, all I have to do is burn a cd with a few songs on and send it you Snappy?

Laz: Look, we've currently got eight participants. That's 19 minutes or so per person. Let's worry about what to do once we've got more than 15 (maximum plausible number), shall we?

Why not just say that the first 15 get to join in and any others will have to wait 'till next time.

That's the same number as last time, which worked okay.

I suggest that if it gets to ten minutes each we scrap the "evil song" idea, mainly 'cause that'd leave a few of us with two songs one of which we did not like.

I also prefer the First Come, First Serve model.

It's a close contender actually, but not the one I am going to pick. There is one so excruciating, it needs to be on there.
