Thread moves can mess it up as well.

But at FFZ, MtG revoked all deletion authority for users that aren't admins. That was due to HK posting stuff, deleting it, and yelling that the admins were deleting her stuff.

Wasn’t Matt going to tell us how the database was updated sometime?

More to the point: I’ve never participated in a K hunt, so why am I commenting? .

But... Humm... if every message in the database has a unique ID, then only the COUNT would change, not their unique ID. Is their ID a total unique and nothing else? Or is it based on the forum set the post is in?

Humm... can the common user delete their own posts here? If they can, I see an opportunity for a stinker to ruin the K Hunter fun...

The ID is across every forum, unfortunately.

Yeah, but Matt got busy with other stuff. And frankly, his motivation level for doing this would be minor... keep in mind, putting up the script for consideration gives a chance for people who work with data to find how many differnt spots it could have non-matching count and last poster data displayed. Which would mean his claim for 33K and all previous screen catches are worthless, and could possibly be protested out of the K Point score.

His only motivation *for* doing it would be to show how wrong/clueless I am in regards to how vBB does things and how perfect it is on it's forum summary page. And that I was just being crossed eyed when looking at the summary page.

Is it? So, how much trouble would it be to add in a new column that was stamped with (Max_Seq)+1 on insert? It's schema must include the forum & thread, right? Just stamp in the post # for that forum in it, and instant searchability... and that would remain, whether any previous records were deleted...

Humm... currently then it's a Select ID, Sum{} from {table} where {forum} Order by Post_Date and a pop off to that record would get the correct K shot, right? Humm...

If I had the schema, I could get the select worked out... I rarely go seeking a particular index in systems that don't have them in them. Or that we don't add for easy retrieve of interesting records.

Just to clarify. K's up to 33K were awarded in good faith. There will be no revision. Also the situation where a K has appeared more than once was quite common at AC0L and I believe that Walrus and Dashi ran parrallal records with all the post adjustments. A pain but doable.

Use the forum page, then verify with counting. If some one cheats, take away points. Or use .
