Gig in 10 days time!

Pete (my brother, SU frontman) took most of the photos, he's the first non-member to hear us and he said he thought that Müf were really good, better than our previous bands. *phew*

Debaser 10-01-2005 13:13:34

AKs Godin looks quite nice. Can you get them in white?

Funkodrom 10-01-2005 13:17:45

http://www.godinguitars.com/godinsdp.htm

Nope, these are the colours.

They are around the £300, £400 mark

Lazarus and the Gimp 10-01-2005 17:14:10

Were you about to give your drummer a back-hander across the mouth?

Gramercy Riffs 10-01-2005 17:15:05

Good pics. Impact looks almost classy

No, that's a very carefully staged shot to make it look like we're having an in depth musical discussion. :hmm:

Not sure if you can tell that I have my foot on the bass drum...

zmama 10-01-2005 18:53:38

 I see Pete managed to get a picture of himself, too

protein 10-01-2005 19:03:55

What a deceiving thread title. :(

Nice pictures of the band though.

King_Ghidra 13-01-2005 11:05:32

protein 13-01-2005 11:18:24

hmm.

*goes to Berks Live.

Debaser 13-01-2005 11:21:16

They're using the room after Readings finest band next wednesday....

Funkodrom 13-01-2005 11:23:22

Rob might be knackered after turd polishing of that intensity. But you guys could all kick back and have a beer and hang out if you wanted. Should be fun, we (hopefully) should only need to run through the set really.

protein 13-01-2005 11:30:59

I ain't polishing anything. I'm doing a non-polishing rehearsal recording on strict orders.

I will have to try and get rid of that god-awful low mid standing wave honky sound from the room though. You'll probably hear the other bands in the background too.

Oh, MM, any chance of a lift with my gear? There's a bit too much to walk with. Does anyone in your band drive?

Funkodrom 13-01-2005 11:33:45

Gareth and Austin both do. Either of them might offer to pick you up but you'll feel less in fear of death if Gareth drives you. :)

"low mid standing wave honky sound from the room though"

You know Debaser's the bass player? No need to be quite so rude about him...

Funkodrom 13-01-2005 11:35:25

Know what you mean though. Room 3 (which we normally use) is miles better for sound, but a bit small for a 5 piece.

I'll find out for you. Shouldn't be a problem.

And you can polish us a bit if you like. Infact do whatever it takes to make us sound as great in real life as we do in our heads. (Probably best you start booking those session players now).

Funkodrom 13-01-2005 11:37:55

Racialist.

protein 13-01-2005 11:42:30

It'll be fine. I might use this to experiment with transfering tracks from my 16 track into Pro Tools.

Nills Lagerbaak 16-01-2005 06:53:24

I like that first photo. Caption should be....

"Five beats to the bar?! Did you say five?"

*Funny if you know the drummer.....

Oh and greetings from India by the way!

protein 16-01-2005 11:39:33

Greetings!

*shakes head from side to side in classic British curry restaurant humour.

Tankyou, come again.

Hey, bring me back something cheap but groovy. Like a wild monkey or a fresh coconut or something. :)

Yes, although bizarrely the song featuring 5/8 we wrote when the drummer wasn't there. He loved it when he found out.

protein 17-01-2005 12:12:45

5/8.

Is it because it's an intellectual challenge or because it sounds really good?

Funkodrom 17-01-2005 12:14:59

Sam and I jammed something then spent ages trying to work out how to count it! :D

We're only calling it 5/8 rather than 5/4 because sometimes it's in 6 but the beats are the same length as the 5 bit. :)

protein 17-01-2005 12:38:59

So does it sound good or does it sound like you're trying to be clever? Will I get to record it?

Funkodrom 17-01-2005 12:43:51

Hard to be objective about that but I don't think it sounds like we're trying to be clever. :)

I think it's our joint best song so probably.

protein 17-01-2005 14:22:53

Cool. Roll on Thursday. :)

Funkodrom 17-01-2005 14:24:18

Roll and/or Rock on Thursday.

Tizzy 17-01-2005 14:46:23

There better be rock

protein 17-01-2005 14:52:51

I'd prefer for there to be roll.

Roni Size "rolls", Bryan Adams "rocks".

Funkodrom 17-01-2005 15:02:17

That's going in the signature. :D

jsorense 18-01-2005 23:36:32

Did you know that the drummer looks just like one of my wife's grad students. He is gay too of course.

Funkodrom 19-01-2005 09:01:40

Jesus is not gay.

Sadly both wild monkeys and cocunuts are banned (as food) stuffs from being brought through customs. Maybe I should have pretended to be a travelling organ grinder....

I did however get badly roocked on some (n ot so cheap) cheap hindu god tablets. I don't feel so bad cos they were from a tsunami village and they did need the business - so you can all have one, maybe two of those!

In Chenai I was reading about some guy who has a bit of a penchent for weird food (live scorpions, rattle snakes etc). It turns out he is one of the few people alive today who has eaten the classic south indian delicasy of Boiled Monkey brains (as depicted in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), before it was banned in 1979!

Funkodrom 19-01-2005 15:04:40

Hindu God Tablets? You shouldn't bring drugs back.

Nills Lagerbaak 19-01-2005 15:06:52

He assured me they were nothing more than purple omlettes!

protein 19-01-2005 15:07:57

Wow man, I'm really buzzing off these hind... what the... is... ganesh? ... is that you?

Nills Lagerbaak 19-01-2005 15:09:37

There's Ganesh. Shive Hanuman and Kali.

Man, meeting Hanuman would be a mind fuck indeed!

protein 19-01-2005 15:10:59

Are you in Reading or still in mystical lands?

Nills Lagerbaak 19-01-2005 15:12:47

Got back today. I am in London....gonna watch a cheap DVD I got (nothing filthy!) and then crash - had an all night flight and didn't sleep much.

zzzzzzzzzzz

protein 19-01-2005 15:13:55

Is your mum home? I wouldn't mind getting my drum stool back for the catapult club on friday.

wanna go?

Funkodrom 19-01-2005 15:37:51

Still coming to Müf and Rebus tomorrow?

Nills Lagerbaak 19-01-2005 15:41:17

Wait catapult club who, what, when!?!? I had no idea of this. I'm there!

I think I gotta work on Friday so I migh have to give Thursday a miss (although I do have a bit of Delhi belli....)

Oh and yes, my Mum is at home, maybe go round later tonight (the stool is under my bed)

Funkodrom 19-01-2005 15:43:33

You should use the toilet dude!

Rebus are playing the catapult club on friday.

protein 19-01-2005 15:49:43

I think it's club cavort. Same promoter, different format. We're headlining.

protein 19-01-2005 15:50:24

Bring friends.
