Glastonbury is On, I'm Off
Possibly. Bloody reinstatement of licence, I can't decide which festival to go to now.

If The Stones and other high-profile rumour Prince are in, I really should go there.

Debaser 18-02-2003 17:13:30

Lol, I can't exactly see Prince slumming it with the hippies.

The way they announce their lineup last-minute is mondo annoying- last year Roskilde's lineup ran circles around it, but you don't know beforehand.

I remember when... 19-02-2003 07:52:48

Glastonbury is so much more than bands on stage, that is why the line up is only confirmed after the tickets have been sold.

I went last year with my two kids and they loved it, we did not give a toss who played. It was a bonus that Coldplay played, but they were the only band that we made a point of catching. The rest of the 5 days we were there was spend "stumbling" across bands playing on tiny stages all over the site.

Yeah, Glasto was absolutely brilliant last year, maybe i should finsih my write-up about it...

Scabrous Birdseed 19-02-2003 11:08:17

Yeah, but you see, my alternative is Roskilde, northern europe's 2/3 sized (by choice- they limit the ticket sales so as to create a better experience... supposedly) equivalent of Glastonbury. Thus between the two lineup would be an appropriate way of deciding, since small, interesting bands are pretty much a given on both festivals (though Glastonbury, rather criminally, lacks a world music tent- bad form!).

Looking over last year's lineup there was nothing whatsoever on Glastonbury that I would definately want to hear I couldn't also catch at Roskilde. Plus the schedule seems really tight comparatively- I'm assuming these are all really short sets of an hour or less. No place here for the three-hour magical Neil Young concert of Roskilde 2001!

King_Ghidra 19-02-2003 11:25:34

Fair point, i guess for me the choice is based on the fact that one is a few hours drive and the other is in a completely different country :)

What about the Jazz/World stage? It's the third biggest stage on site?

Scabrous Birdseed 19-02-2003 13:41:58

After seing the lineup "... - Beverley Knight - Luke Slater - ..." I immediately dismissed it as a thinly disguised normal stage.

All times are GMT. The time now is 21:43:33.
