If you liked Tony 3 buy it now.

If you haven't played any of the Tony games but think you might like them, get this one.

If you hated all Tony Hawk games. Don't buy it.

Can I borrow your copy of Tony 3? :)

16-12-2002, 10:52:17
Yes - if protein doesn't want it, I already said he could borrow it.

Other important points:

1. In career mode you can do any of the goals with any skater. You just have to unlock the goals for the career, not for each skater.
2. The levels are HUGE!
3. Instead of having a bunch of 2 minute runs to do goals you free skate around the level and talk to people who give you tasks to do. Any time limit on them starts when you start the task. You can restart any task at any time. If you are in the middle of a task and see someone else to talk to you can stop the task and talk to them.
4. You can hang onto the back of cars Back to the Future Style
5. The new move is a spine transfer which isn't as useful as a revert for linking tricks, not sure how good it'll be yet.
6. As well as completing tasks to unlock levels (8 for each level) you can also buy the levels by spending money on them. If you are just short of money you can go back to Alcatraz and play baseball against the ghosts to get some more cash.
7. Yes, Alcatraz island is one of the levels.

Hey Mike, can I come round your house and play Tony 4 again please?

I'm in Reading too guys so would be more than happy to borrow/exchange/steal games from any other Readingites. My selection is small but growing:

GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, SSX Tricky 3 (err 2, whatever the latest is), FIFA 2003, Ghost Recon, Gran Turismo 3, some crap Rally game hardly worth mentioning, Ring of Red (ok/crap).

16-12-2002, 18:00:53
Nah, Ring Of Red is a cool game! Just takes about 70 zillion hours to play the missions.

16-12-2002, 18:02:21
bit repetitive though no?

16-12-2002, 18:11:09
hmm...true...the missions did start to blur into one :clueless:

And fair play to Funkodrom for not crying like a little baby when I kicked his arse again and again. Until he started to get good and beat me,

How many 80,000 tricks were you busting? :cute:

Gamespy annoited Tony Hawk 4 as its PS2 Game of the Year.

17-12-2002, 15:42:08
Really? I don't go there anymore but it does rock.

17-12-2002, 15:55:09
Tis true. I would not lie about such.

I'm finding ThPS3 too hard, I'm stuck on the 2nd level, I can't get the E of Skate

19-12-2002, 16:42:36
Ok... that's Canada right?

Go up into the tree house area. Just before you get to the tree house there's a rail on the left hand side you can grind with a switch on it. Grind over the switch to flick it. It opens up the area of the level for you to get to the E of Skate. (I think, long time since I played that)

19-12-2002, 16:43:25
Actually... that might be for the secret tape.

19-12-2002, 16:47:55
This might help:

I can't remember where the E of Skate is but try coming at it from a different angle to what you were trying.

www.gamefaqs.com is the absolute mother of all tips and guides sites

you will never need to go anywhere else once you've been there

20-12-2002, 11:21:04
Too true. The people who submit to that stuff are very scary and very useful.

20-12-2002, 11:41:16
Hey! Cool site. Thanks.

20-12-2002, 12:03:13
Some really extensive help files for Vice City...

THPS4 looks purty in 720p.

more of thps3, that's it

good fun, crap evolution from thps3

no better, no worse

basically an add-on

29-12-2002, 11:52:37
I totally disagree with that. The new goals system is totally different from THPS3 and makes for a much better and more fluid game. Plus the levels are a lot bigger and have less obvious huge grind combos, one of the criticisms of THPS3. Also it's much, much harder in 1 player which means it lasts longer. It focuses you on being able to hit the right trick at the right time a lot more. There are nearly 4 times as many goals. 190 compared to 54 in THPS3.

Your criticism might apply to 2 player but even then there are 2 new 2 player modes, both of which are quite fun, even if Horse is still the king.
