Both the original (Japanese) Ring and the Dreamworks remake are hitting cinema screens almost at the same time over here. I've read some enthusiastic reviews on CG, and, since I have neither time nor money to see both, let me ask you this question - which one would you recommend more?

Not seen either, but the opinion I have gained of both through listening and reading is: the original is great, the remake is OK.

Now tell me if I should see Monster’s Ball or not.

The Japanese original is by far the freakiest, scariest film I've ever seen. Just the trailer is scarier than any American film I can think of. I've not seen the new version, but there is no way any film that has been made with widespread distribution in mind can maintain the same level of horror.

Definately rent the Japanese version.

Definitely defintely watch the Japanese version - I'll gladly endorse Debasers post that it is the scariest film I have ever seen, and I'm probably sounding like a stuck record having said that again, having posted that view rather alot here!

I had trouble navigating through the DVD menus the other day when I thought I'd have a look at it again it was so damn freaky. :nervous:

I had no idea that there was a Schmollywood remake in the offing. I bet it sucks.

OK, thanks for the input guys, now I'll definately go see the original.

Debaser: I was talking about the cinema, not VHS/DVD. I live in Poland you know ;)...

I would also like to say that cinemas here suck. They probably suck elsewhere, too, but still.

Good cinemas are good. Bad cinemas suck.
