Not trying to gloat Nills, but I have an amp just lying under my bed doing nothing.

Poster boy I know not who you are or why you have an amp undr your bed doing nothing.

Funkodrom

What was the make of that amp that guy from Wake had last night? That was excellent.

Nills Lagerbaak
18-11-2002, 13:31:42
Wait a minute, whatever happened to the Amp Sam's mate had for sale? I was going to buy that.

Funkodrom
18-11-2002, 13:34:50
Hmmm... dunno. I remember him talking about a speaker not an amp.

Nills Lagerbaak
18-11-2002, 13:36:12
Yeah, but the speaker sounded pretty sweet. I could buy that and then a second hand head

Funkodrom
18-11-2002, 13:38:49
Well... if I remember right it's a 4*10 cab spray painted green that's been left in someone's shed for several years and they are willing to swap for a crate of beer. Not sure how good it'd sound... Definitely worth checking out though.

I am a man who owns one more amp than you do

I want to get myself another new guitar as well.

Funkodrom
18-11-2002, 14:55:54
Or you could just get yourself a decent combo for about 300 which would also be easier to transport.

Nills Lagerbaak
18-11-2002, 15:01:58
But would be no where near as good sounding (or loud)

Funkodrom
18-11-2002, 15:29:55
Well... I'm not so sure about that. Some of the new combos sound really sweet. You don't really need it to be that loud, anywhere decent sized it'll be miked up and through the PA anyway.

It depends how good that speaker actually is and whether you can find a decent 2nd hand head or not.

We could always go and try a few out anyway, would be quite fun even if we don't get anything.

It was a Peavy Classic Combo.

Like the 6th Amp down on this page, but I reckon his was at least 80watts.

Just found Wake's website:

http://www.wakemusic.co.uk/

They have some mp3s.

Funkodrom

Except it's not working very well.

They are playing the BBBs on the 28th.

I got the Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12
Gorgeous clean tones and some nasty overdriven tones expecially with the extra gain.

Funkodrom
19-11-2002, 11:47:35
That sounds nice, especially for the stuff you are playing.

Not Rock enough for you. You really need a Mesa dual rectifier

Funkodrom
19-11-2002, 12:03:35
Oooooooh.... yeah. If we could afford one! They are around 2 grand new!

Don't get a pointy guitar. You will look like a complete penis.

Funkodrom

What guitar did I end up with last time I was looking? :hmm:

Your current guitar is good.

Scabrous Birdseed

Jesus, just grab any old amp and punch a couple of holes in it with aq screwdriver.

Funkodrom
19-11-2002, 12:40:42
If you want it to sound totally shit.

Scabrous Birdseed
19-11-2002, 12:48:24
If you want clean sounds go play Jazz or something.

Funkodrom
19-11-2002, 12:58:15
I think you might be surprised how much work it sometimes takes to make a guitar sound properly lo-fi.

I think Jack White's got a Sears Silvertone amp which is a really nice old amp. Great sound from that. It's not just some cheap peice of crap he's picked up somewhere and fucked up.

Scabrous Birdseed

I'm thinking back to the good old days of "Rocket 88" in 1951, which of course arrived at its characteristic sound using a broken amp.

Actually, I have no clue. I'm just trying to wind everyone up. :)

Fuck you! At least I won't look like somekind of common as muck indie shoegazer with a guitar like everyone else

Funkodrom

I like your guitar. I think he just meant it wouldn't suit me. Which is true.

Nills Lagerbaak
19-11-2002, 13:48:07
I dunno, you might suit some kind of flying V

Funkodrom
19-11-2002, 13:58:29
I don't like flying Vs though. I think they look a bit shit.

OK boys, time for some respect to be shown.....

Lasty night on the tube I was chatting to this rock chick about music etc. I began to realise I know nothing about music post 1980, but anyway told her about our band. She said she would love to come and bring all her friends, but the best bit is still to come......

Wait for it.......

She was 17 years old and doing her GCSEs

The Shaker
21-11-2002, 11:38:11
bloody hell she must be thick.

Scabrous Birdseed
21-11-2002, 11:42:41
Well she would, she's obviously had to retake a year.

Funkodrom
21-11-2002, 11:42:49
Yeah right, still doing her GCSE's at 17! You should read more Kerrang then when people talk to you about modern rock bands you'll have some idea what they are talking about.

Speaking of which. Have you seen the new Sikth video? It's brilliant.

You need to start listening to new music that sounds like it was made in the seventies. :)

Like the last Hellacopters album.

Funkodrom
21-11-2002, 11:48:59
Why not listen to music that actually was made in the seventies if I want stuff like that? Oh no, wait, I do that.

Funkodrom
