Yeah, At The Drive In are probably a more consistently good band, but I don't think any of their songs come close to being as great as Mistakes & Regrets. If I had to narrow the list down to 10 songs M&R would still feature in the list.

Both had their fair share of good and bad, but I remember the 80's as being worse. I lived in Belguim until 1987, and the radio there was bad.

At least the eighties had some okay underground stuff. All that was underground in the nineties was more fucking britpop.

Funkodrom
25-11-2002, 10:35:12
And a massive underground dance culture, which admittedly turned mainstream by the end of the decade.

That was shit too. No sense of rhythm, no drive, no groove, heavily undancable music.

At least the eighties had a Zydeco revival.

(My gap is between 1987 and 1997, if you'll notice. :))

Funkodrom
25-11-2002, 10:47:26
I have a big gap where I only listened to shite music and Rage Against the Machine between '94 and about '99 I think. It was just the mid 90s that was bad for me. The first few years were superb.

Late '99 I started to get back into rock again, what a relief!
