Very. I think I’ve seen this video before.

It's quite funny though. In a "laugh at" kind of way.

Caligastia

It probably reminds you of "Waynes World" when they start headbanging to "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Funny video BTW:lol:

I love System of a Down.

Video doesn't work.

System of a Down are great.

When we saw them at Reading everyone loved them. Even people who don't really like that kind of music. (not that there is any heavy Armenian influenced stuff out there really).

Awww... You'll have to try the video at home.

They sound like all the other Nu Metal bands. Some Armenian influence would be good.

Scabrous Birdseed

I saw their live show on TV, it was considerably more armenian than anything I've heard recorded by them (which isn't much, basically this song).

They did that "DISSOORRRRDERRRRRRRR" song didn't they?

Funkodrom
25-10-2002, 09:08:51

They don't have riffs that sound nu-metal.

Or rapping.

Or turntables.

They don't look nu-metal.

They don't sing about how it's tough being a kid and how screwed up they are.

They are intelligent, and have strong political edges to their songs.

They are closer to RATM than Limp Bizkit.

Scabrous Birdseed
25-10-2002, 09:10:22
RATM is nu metal surely?

[/troll]

they have silly beards, wear skate/metal clothing, play new metal music and sound like all the other bands that are Nu Metal.

Funkodrom

Only in the same way that Travis play the same music as The Doves.

And have you only heard the one song that you weren't sure whether or not it was by them or not?

That's true, I've outsmarted myself.

Yeah, what a load of rubbish, they are nothing like nu-metal. They are modern, but that's about as far as the connection goes. They are definitely more like RATM, whio are anything but nu-metal!!!!!

protein

They are more like Faith No More than RATM

Scabrous Birdseed

Who cares? It's all easy-litsening background noise without a marked beat for pansies.

Funkodrom
25-10-2002, 09:30:15
They aren't really like anyone else though. I only said RATM 'cause of the political aspect rather than the music.

Yeah, all songs should have "a marked beat for pansies".

Oh you're a trance fan then.

Hell you said it, I assume you're talking about all those infuriatingly incomplete UK Garage beats you like so much.

You seem to desire music without the natural nod-head factor.

Funkodrom
25-10-2002, 10:36:34
You probably can't nod your head fast enough for SOAD.

"DISS" nod "ORRRR" nod "DERRRRRR" nod

Scabrous Birdseed
25-10-2002, 10:55:43
You don't feel the urge to nod your head with soad. There's no drive.

Funkodrom

Yes I do, stop telling me what I think.

I'd like to conduct a scientific test at some point. This would consist of ten random, blindfolded members of the public being played a selection Metal tunes followed by a selection of, say, sixties soul classics. The test subjects would be asked to let loose and move body parts in time with the music.

Considering the entirely flat, lifeless nature of Metal it'll be quite obvious which side would win. Feel free to substitute any other genre I like for the 60s soul...

Funkodrom

Make it rock (my definition not yours) and you have a deal.

protein

I think people are more likely to get funky to funk and to rock out to rock. It would be a pointless exercise.
See whether people are more likely to headbang to punk or soul.

Scabrous Birdseed
25-10-2002, 11:23:53
Headbanging exists 'cause Metal is so boring that they really need to make an effort to get anything out of it.

Funkodrom

Well, the SOAD track on that video is shit, can’t say anything for their other stuff.

Caligastia
25-10-2002, 13:47:20
SOAD fucking ROCK!!! They are original, they dont sound like anyone! They sound like System of a Down! If you dont like them you suck!:p

Funkodrom

Don't worry, I expect Sam doesn't like them either. Everyone else does though. :D

ps: Put {url}www.sonicundermind.co.uk{/url} around the website link, with [ brackets instead of curly and it'll turn it into a link.
