The guys at Buddyhead really don't like The Strokes. This week:

right behind our favorite four car garage band fronted by a child actor... The Strokes and their singer - Julian Casablancas of “Big” fame.

That Buddyhead gossip is pretty funny.

The Icarus Line are pretty good too. Got one of their songs on the Incoming 2001 Kerrang CD end of last year and then went to MP3.com to download some more. Mean to get that album at some point.

Er, the fact that all Metal bands and all Metalheads are infinately more geeky than any Garage Rockers seems to have escaped him. I'm sorry, I can't have any respect for someone who thinks rock should be stale.

How in hell did you get that he thinks rock should be stale?

That's the total opposite attitude to the site.

Er, all Metal is stale. That's part of the definition. Rock with the boogie and sex taken out -> Metal.

I just don't see what relevance metal has to this thread.

Bah. Almost everyone who denounces The Strokes is a metalhead. :clueless:

Ah, so they must be then.

Wait a second- am I defending the Strokes here? Damn. Sorry.

I just don't like Buddyheads crap taste in music, that's all. :bash:

Even if you don't like the music I think the attitude is good

Possibly. I was watching an old interview with the lead singer from Monster Magnet the other day on TV, and I agree with everything he said about the return of rock to good old values. But not with his damn music aargh aargh aargh.

It's a bit like liking the attitude of a libertarian because he distrusts corrupt governments.

I saw Monster Magnet burn a guitar at 2pm in blazing sunshine at Reading Festival a few years back... didn't really work.

Er, Snapcase, Buddyhead is a punk site.

Okay, it's full of holier-than-thou "punks", but it's still a punk site.

I don't go there, they keep slagging off The*Ataris.

I got the Strokes album for Christmas, and I'm playing it to try to give it a chance.

There are a couple of good songs on it, but there's still an awful lot of dodgy new wave. That thin, reedy guitar sound has always repulsed me- it's what turns me off a lot of punk "classics".

That's what I don't like about it really. It hasn't got any Oomph.
