The Evening Standard ran an article yesterday saying that the England football team were flown back from Bratislava in a plane piloted by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden fame. Apparently he works for the airline Astraeus.

this made me laugh

He qualified as a pilot a few months ago IIRC

He's been a qualified pilot for ages. Was it just commercial flights he qualified for?

Must have been - or maybe it was just when he took that job.
I read something in the paper about him flying a few months ago, at any rate!

but... this takes so much of the allure off...:(

Is the man who yelled" Scream for me [insert name of city]" on the top of his lungs really pinches stewardesses asses for a living...?

This is a sideline. Maiden have a year off so he's flying a bit. When they are on tour he always flies himself between gigs rather than getting on the tourbus.

Accomodating.

I've seen him live when he had that other band, what was its name?, with Adrian Smith.

98% of the crowd was teenagers with a precious few pathetic old farts who waited to hear some iron maiden songs like a druggie at the encores.

Still it was fun.

Did they even have a name? I thought it was just called Bruce Dickenson on the albums. Goat Spawn bought one of them, it was terrible.

And now they're both back in the band again.

I think you're right the band was called Bruce Dickinson :D

The songs were indeed crap a fact that didn't stop any kid from jumping around like a maniac.

When they were playing Maiden songs the whole audience calmed down and it was the old farts' turn to jump around like maniacs.

They played really well BTW.

I went to see Maiden twice last year. It was great.

I've never managed to see them live although they are kind enough to include this remote rock forsaken place propably in all their tours. (they are quite popular).

That's the reason I went to see Brucey in the first place since I've never saw them live.

I'd go and see them when they visit these parts again if I know that they're going to play some of their old songs because of the new onces I don't know anything.

I'd never seen them before last year and I only had to go twice 'cause when we got tickets the first time some people who found out we were going all wanted to come along... so when they announced an extra gig we went then.

Interestingly all the people I went with the first time all post here now. Goat Spawn, Debaser, King_Ghidra and The Shaker. :D

Oh and Slayer were supporting, but they had the the PA turned right down and only cranked it up for Maiden. Second time it was Rob Halford supporting. He had a rock midget.
