View Full Version : Should I have gone to this concert?

My college just hosted Sleater-Kinney and I feel really bad because I've been hearing good things about them, and it was totally free for me to go…
So I'm turning to people I trust: are they good? Or just another sketchy modern band?

I'd have gone.

Sounds like a lucky escape then.

Seems a little pointless to be worrying about it now, but as you asked, yes they are good and I'd have gone if i was you.

"just another sketchy modern band"? I know what you mean, it all began to go wrong the day people started to plug their guitars in.

Guitars? In church? Balsphemy!

I wish I had gone now…
Of course it's only a matter of time till Supertramp comes to town!!!

Funnily enough they are in this weeks Kerrang!

Supertramp? Fuckin'ell!

Gimme a shout when Hall and Oats or Rainbow are playing, I'll be there!

Kerrang? Rainbow? You crazy counterpointers…
My taste in music is broad… from the Pixies to the Beach Boys to Propellerheads to yes - even Supertramp. I can't say I like Hall & Oates though…

Pixies and Propellerheads are both good. Beach Boys annoy me.

Where do you think Debaser got his name from?

Beach Boys rock. Pixies are overrated.

Hmmm.... I bet the Beach Boys still sell a lot more records than the Pixies did at their peak. They certainly aren't overrated by the general public.

:hmm: Overrated by the people who like that kind of music.

They're so very, very, eighties, there's no universality to their sound.

11-10-2002, 09:57:34
So people who like the Pixies rate them highly.

That's so unlike people who like other bands.

Both the Pixies and the Beach Boys are great. Case closed.

It's really strange... people will be arguing about which genre of music is better here at the uni (as you brits seem to call college) and I'll be just like.... hmmmmm - I like that... AND I like that.

I can't really think of a genre of music that I totally exclude. I guess you could call me a musical whore. But damn is it fun! Also I wouldn't describe the Pixies as eighties. When I think eighties I think Modern English's "I Melt With You" another song I adore - in fact I played it on my radio show here at Uni!
