View Full Version : LWP3: 'Tis Time

Right, so far I've gotten two out of the ten CDs I'm expecting.

Laz, thanks. Guy, thanks, but, er...

How far will three US stamps get me in the lovely Royal Mail? :) I'm considering cutting them off and sending them along as well, since they're not postmarked... but rather worryingly neither are the ones on the outer envelope.

Everyone else, chop chop.

We haven't done LWP2 yet.

I still don't know what songs I'm going to use.

Er... Iain's? I still haven't got his CD.

Sean
07-10-2002, 11:00:40
Neither have I. But seem to remember a certain someone saying ‘this [last] weekend’ for their review. For that matter, Iain said (last) Thursday.

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 11:03:00
Yeah, I got distracted playing Warcraft III for 8 hours on Saturday and about 4 hours Sunday.

Didn't even write the reviews I got paid for.

Sean
07-10-2002, 11:04:41
That is the perfect reason not to buy WCIII. Not to mention that Super Mario Sunshine is OUT and I still haven’t got BF1942.

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 11:04:47
I'll try and do it before I go away this weekend.

Sean
07-10-2002, 11:09:07
I now have an idea of what I might possibly be using, but I need to buy the CD first.

LWP3 or 2?

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 11:11:14
II. I definitely won't have time for my III CD.

Sean
07-10-2002, 11:11:45
I wasn’t asking about Warcraft :bash:.

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 11:12:59
You x-posted. I didn't see the warcraft post.

Sean
07-10-2002, 11:13:47
I was talking about the use of Roman numerals, actually.

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 11:46:20
I know.

:D Actually, I just handed the whole mess to the postal clerk with an explaination of what I wanted to do and let them work out the details. That's pretty funny, though! I'm just happy/surprised it actually made it there. Now that I think about it, though, I'm not sure what else a US postal employee could have done. I doubt they keep a stock of British stamps on hand just in case. Maybe the US ones actually will work for the return trip? I'll have to poke around and see how that works. If not, we'll have to work out some alternate compensation for you posting it back to me.

Ah, the difficulties of living in an international age... :)

Anyone want an extra 13 minutes or so?
My CD-R has rolled over and died, so I can't do my CD now.
I'd still love to hear what you all put together though, if that's OK?

Funkodrom
07-10-2002, 15:52:57
:(

I seem to remember protein expressing an interest in this...

They sell them in WH Smiths.

For the record, can I point out that both Shakey and I have finished our LWP3 cd's, and we are waiting for Funkodrom before they are all posted together in one neat little package.

Come on Mikey, it won't take you very long! Just do this..... :gotit:

Sean

I think I’ve found my track. I mean tracks.

Why doesn't everybody just put the destination address in the source address section, and not put any stamps on at all? That would save everybody a lot of trouble and postage!

Er, Does anyone want to jump in for Tizzy? Giving someone 27 minutes seems a tad unfair.

Funkodrom
08-10-2002, 10:48:01
LWP2 review sent.

Sean
08-10-2002, 10:51:25
Reply sent, because something amused me in it.

Funkodrom
08-10-2002, 11:00:57
Reply sent to which address?

Sean
08-10-2002, 11:01:43
distorted@

(Don’t tell me that that only gets checked in the first week of every month, please.)

Funkodrom
08-10-2002, 11:03:09
No, I check it every day but I can only pick it up from home. I'm curious now though, can you send it to hotmail as well?

Sean
08-10-2002, 11:04:23
Sent.

Edit: you see, the reason I used the Hotmail one before was that I thought you’d be able to check that at both home and work.

Funkodrom
08-10-2002, 11:07:53
Yeah, I just forgot I even had that account though. :D

That point is quite funny. I was so bored with the first bit that I totally tuned out and suddenly woke up when it changed. I couldn't face listening to it again.

Sean
08-10-2002, 11:09:59
 :p.

Guy

Snapcase:

I found a way to get return postage to you in a format that should be usable in the UK, but I need to go back to the post office to see if they've got the forms I need to fill out to arrange it and then mail the coupons out to you once I get them. Might take a little bit, but it sounds as though you won't be sending anything out for a while yet, anyway. ;)

Scabrous Birdseed
08-10-2002, 16:51:20
Oh don't bother, International Reply Coupons are a pain. I'll just pay for it myself, I'm more worried about you having wasted money on the return postage...

Guy
08-10-2002, 16:55:15
Don't be, it was less than a buck, a trip to the candy machine here costs more. :)

And thanks! I owe you a beer or three next time I'm in town.

Scabrous Birdseed
08-10-2002, 17:16:19
What would help, though, is if you sent the CD on a CD-R instead of a CD-RW next time. It's gonna be absolute buggeration thinking of a way of getting onto my computer with its lovely ancient 2x CD writer...

Guy
08-10-2002, 17:33:37
It's always going to be something with you, isn't it? :p

It's up for grabs to any newcomers. However if no new entrants want it then I'll happily add a couple of tracks.

Sean
08-10-2002, 19:16:08
I could use the extra time, I suppose, but I haven’t the faintest idea of how much time I currently have.

Scabrous Birdseed
08-10-2002, 22:48:28
I've got a volounteer to take Tizzy's place, let's welcome Richard "Crap Eighties Punk" Harrison into the fold!

Sean
08-10-2002, 23:29:20
ALREADY?!

Funkodrom
09-10-2002, 08:54:04
Shit, after weeks I have no idea what my last few minutes will be used up with and I suddenly realised that one of the tracks I was going to use is gone when I lost my bag. Shit.

Debaser
09-10-2002, 10:26:31
Let me know what it was and I'll try and get an Mp3 for you.

Scabrous Birdseed
09-10-2002, 10:47:14
Please! Keep the MP3s to a minimum. The sound quality is so awful.

Debaser
09-10-2002, 10:56:16
No it isn't. I suppose you'd prefer all our cd's cut to acetate before we send you them, just to get that authentic needle in the groove hiss.;)

09-10-2002, 11:05:12
Shakey might have the album so I'll check with him first.

So what about that 7 seconds? :D

Sean
09-10-2002, 16:53:58
If you can go to the other thread and tell me how much time I have left (minus your 7 seconds), you can have it.

Scabrous Birdseed
09-10-2002, 16:54:12

12:07 if you add in me, Provost and the spare 5 secs off The Bursar.

Sean
09-10-2002, 19:45:09
Thank you.

OK, anyone got 2:01?

Funkodrom
09-10-2002, 19:48:33
Sure. How long does that give me?

Sean
09-10-2002, 19:49:59
Oh, no worries, I just removed one track and added a shorter one. I have 0:08 free.

Sean
09-10-2002, 19:54:01
It looks like I’ll have to go from (244kbps) MP3 for one track, though, as I don’t think the album has been released in the UK yet.

Scabrous Birdseed
09-10-2002, 19:56:25
No probs. So that's a total of eight tracks then?

Sean
09-10-2002, 19:57:58
11, actually. What are you implying ?

Sean
09-10-2002, 20:03:08
Reshuffle! I now only have 0:05 free.

Sean
09-10-2002, 20:03:30

I've got a CD from someone who I don't know who it is but whose username really, really should be "Kidney". So whoever you are, no need to tell me, but I've got your CD safe and sound.

I'm gonna start working on this in about two weeks time, so I'd appreciate it all by then. I've got 4 out of ten, with one coming in on tuesday and that packet of 3 once mike sorts his stuff out. You two, you know who you are (Where the fuck is The Bursar?) get crackin!

The Shaker
11-10-2002, 18:54:14

Scabrous Birdseed
12-10-2002, 09:14:21
He said two to three!

Eleven wankers are allocated 13m 40s each on a double-CD compilation, for which they send me their entries without revealing the artists that perform on the songs they've sent. I mix them all up in one blasphemous brew, send it all out back to the people who sent me CDs, and then everyone reviews everyone else's songs without knowing the artists or, this is the key new thing, who sent them.

Modelled after LWP1 (Pt. 1) (http://www.counterglow.net/article.php?id=LWP_Part1) and (Pt. 2) (http://www.counterglow.net/article.php?id=LWP_Part2).

Scabrous Birdseed
