Will it take over my life?

completely, you'll start dreaming about how you could better rearrange the furniture in your sim's house. It can be very addictive. :D

Depends on your personality. Are you purely a goal player, or do you enjoy mucking about and are easily side tracked?

Pure Goal oriented people tend to get into the Sims, make a bit of progress getting better stuff and moving up the career ranking... and then get bored, because it's all the same.

People that like to muck about tend to get lost in The Sims, because you can really muck around. You are playing along, and get the idea you want try this or that, and boom, you are off. Or you decide to make up a stupid tale or whatever. That is all fun. ;)

And Instant Gratification players like me reject the game since the buildup is sooo tedious.

I rejected it 'cause it sounds boring.

I rejected it because there wasn’t enough scope: it’s an extremely limited sandbox.

I got bored with it quickly. And the fact that there were no weekends so you never had time to do anything really pissed me off.

You can make weekends by not going to work.

Then you get fired.

@Venom.

Hey, B&W was the same thing, over and over and over.

Actually Venom, unless I'm monkeying with a career path for whatever reason, I never have my Sims work. Much better ways to make money... faster, easier, better.

Oh I've used better ways to make money and huge houses and all the equipment I've ever wanted.

Evidently Sim City 4 is having a tie in with the SIms where you can import them to live in the city you build.

Hopefully you'll be able to kill them in freak demolition 'accidents'

Well, the 'My Sims' in SC4 aren't *really* your Sims from The Sims. SC4 lets you watch up to 5 citizens in your city. It just lets you import their names and a bit of their looks to be your watched Sims. According to Maxis, these 5 sims replace a lot of the citizens groups that bug you in SC3. So you can see how 5 sections of your town are doing. But only 5 sections.

Just what's the current Maxis buzz... we will see how it works out when they release the game.
