View Full Version : Championship Manager

I need a newer version of Championship Manager. Mine is quite old. 96/97 but I still love to play it.

I want to know what you guys recommend, are the newest versions the best? If so should I wait for CM4? Or can I get CM3 or 2001/2002 and be content?

Speak your mind.

I've got 00/01 but I haven't played it very much. Shakey has borrowed it off me and is playing it now. I played a lot of CM3 and it's good, very impressive. I'd suggest getting the most recent version ie 01/02 but I'm not sure how long it'll be before CM4 is out.

I see. I'm not above buying an older version though if it's a better game.

AFAIK (and others here should be able to shed more light on this) the later versions all enhance the gameplay and add depth...

Problem might be that there's too much depth...

For a shallow person like me.

I think you'll get used to it reasonably quickly though.

Really need the other CMers in here to comment more.

They're all bastards and won't come and post. Bastards!

It's the curse of you starting a thread again. :(

19-12-2001, 16:26:22
Now you know why I didn't want to start a thread.

19-12-2001, 16:27:04
Yeah, sorry mate.

19-12-2001, 16:28:09
Oh well. It's devolved into another thread of just me and you chatting back and forth. Why is it that most threads end this way?

19-12-2001, 16:31:06
I'm the only one who pities you enough to talk to you?

19-12-2001, 16:32:07
That could very well be it.

I prefer to call our conversations "intelligence gathering". I learn more so I can hurt you more when the time comes.

19-12-2001, 16:35:35
How can a conversation between you and me have a mention of intelligence and not be preceded by "Lack of"

I could send you my old CM00/01 then you can make a decision re CM4 without shelling out bucks for 01/02.

RC: That'd be nice of you but it still be 3 or 4 bucks to ship it across the sea. Although it's not like I can't spare 3 or 4 bucks.

Mike: I suppose I should have said, information gathering, perhaps?

You're most welcome to my copy of CM2 if you want. Just keep playing it for 6 years and you'll have caught up with the league as it is now. It is of course such a realistic and comprehensive simulation that you won't notice the difference :D

I really loved CM2 at Uni - played it for days on end solid.

Venom. I think I can stretch to that. PM me the shipping address and I'll try and do it over the Xmas break.

You meant "intelligence" in the technical sense?

20-12-2001, 09:27:04
Excellent work everyone!

If you would like my copy of Champ Man 3 then you can have that as well for comparison. :D

Would you like my original copy of Championship Manager 1 for the Amiga?? :D

btw I believe that CM4 will come out with the new season next year (probably autumn or thereabouts)

20-12-2001, 12:59:12
Well now I'm confused again as I've gotten several nice offers. I'll just stick with one copy for now.

RC, yes the technical sense. Like CIA and NSA crap.

20-12-2001, 21:07:45
Oh and for RC being so nice and offering first he gets moved to the absolute last position on "Venom's Death List".

The others who offered, good effort, just be first next time. For your efforts you will not move up any spots on the List. All of those who didn't offer have each gained 1 day of torture.
