I really, really wanted to put some Fantomas on the mp3 of the week but they don't have any legit mp3s out there so instead you've got something else insane. It's by a band called The Martyrs. They make noise which is hard to listen to. It was tough choosing which track would be best but I chose one of the easier ones to listen to in the end. This is called Kindergarten Suicide Diaries (http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/1953/1953597.html). It's on mp3.com again I'm afraid but it is good. It's only 1 and a bit meg as well so no excuses for not listening!

Oo-kay... Um.

This is noisy. I quite like it, but perhaps they've been a tad too heavy on the Pink Noise generator in CoolEdit 2000?

You had the problem I had with the forum timing out posts then. :(

All their songs are interesting. As are the descriptions. "God Sold Out" has the brilliant description Catchy techno loop ruined by hyper-noisecore

Oo-kay... Um is a two-word review!

Well done.

This track even fit's with Qweeg's new dictate in that it's not rawk.

but it doesn't fit in with the music forum's policy in that it's not music.

Why isn't it music?

It's like the sound recorded by an ambient mike in a room where somebody is watching a Western while using a power drill.

It’s alright, I guess. They overdid it, though. (So basically what SB said.)

Funkodrom: will you accept an Ogg-only download for the free MP3 of the week?

Actually, the noise is a result of attempting to open some random .exe file using a freeware sound editor. It attempted to convert the data into the most recognizable sort of sound it could, creating static peppered with strange noises.

The Martyrs haven't been recording much since they realized some batshit psycho genius in Japan named Merzbow had already done everything they did, and received worldwide acclaim for it. If you guys are fans of Mike Patton, I believe he's done some sort of project with Merzbow (which would go without saying, seeing as Patton has worked with every single person who has been somehow in the music industry, ever. He's probably doing vocals for a garage band in your neighborhood as we speak.)

The Martyrs have plenty of unreleased material, but MP3.com is just plain irritating and they're too lazy to get their shit hosted anywhere else.

Hi Golem II!

I'm going to have to check out Merzbow on that recommendation. If anyone else is interested a quick search turned up this:

http://www.oppositerecords.com/artists/merzbow.html

Which has a whole load of links including a link to a 19Meg mp3 of a remix he's done which I just downloaded. It's like Mad Capsule Markets most extreme song would be if they took all the nice happy poppy hooks out and just left the brutal noisy stuff but then decided to dirty it up a bit. I love it.

mp3.com is irritating. Takes forever to upload anything. Still, if The Martyrs have anything else I'd love to hear it.

I'm not sure. Can everyone play ogg files with standard players? Don't know if I can or not. I've never used them.

Ah. OK. Then probably. PM me a link... oh no you can't... er... e-mail it to me or something.
