View Full Version : Free Game of the Week - MarioUpgrade

I usually try to avoid fanmade remakes and clones for this series, but honestly this has as little to do with Mario as with Duke Nukem 3D (from which another piece of graphics is stolen).

No, the game feels more like a Wario game, really. That is, if Wario had been coded in QBasic by an insane, semi-literate Brazilian 14-year-old. The game has no enemies, no webpage, no real levels, no save functions and amazingly ugly graphics... But brilliant, precise gameplay and some absolutely beautifully designed intelligent platform levels. Should take about 2 hours to complete.

Download it off HOTU (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?name=MarioUp).

It's a quasi-difficult, addictive platform game in fucking Portugese. And it's only 225k, get it for fuck's sake.

It scares me to not have any enemies to kill.

And you will get really frustrated and beat your monitor with a hammer towards the end.

Create a DOS partition?

Use the Memory tab in the program’s Properties box.

Is it insanely quick for everyone else, too?

26-09-2002, 18:00:35
It's insanely addictive!

No, it's normal speed here.

26-09-2002, 18:03:57
Nromal speed being Mario-esque speed?

26-09-2002, 18:14:52
I think you can tell XP to run it slow if it's too fast I think. Or I could be wrong. I probably am. Carry on.

26-09-2002, 20:17:44
I can’t find the option, so I’ll just have to work harder than you lazy bastards.

27-09-2002, 13:17:01

There's got to be some slow down program out there for free. Something like Mo Slo or something. I've got that one laying around somewhere at home.
