After a bit of research I have decided on this. Compression and limiting on each track plus 2 lots of mulit effects. 8 track simultanious recording. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes.

That looks pretty sweet. How much?

Future Music says it is the best sub-1000 multitracker out there.

Sounds fantastic! I guess it uses a CD-RW drive instead of a tape?

No, you can burn the tracks to CD afterwards, but it records to hard disk

That's a lot of kit for the moeny

Yeah, I thought I would get a budget multi tracker rather than start building a studio based around a pc or mac. I'll do that when I can afford it.

I made very good experiences with Yamaha Hardware. I got a QY700 sequencer, A CS1/x synthesizer and a A 4000 sampler.

Especially the QY700 is well designed and has an excellent interface. VERY clever. MIDI works good and it's simple.
RC has the same device. Since it has SP/DIF outputs recording on an external CD R/W should be no problem. If you got a sound card with SP/DIF you can use the PC to burn CDS
