Tim Train's take on Rise of Nations is given here:

Note I do not consider this news worthy...:)

We do need more news on the front page...

Pause to give orders EVEN IN MULTIPLAYER!!!! They have no idea.

I think it looks like they've tried to put too much in.

One of the Brian's can put it up then:).

Yep. The first part of the second page actually sounded really cool, although it would be a very very simple game in application. Nothing really wrong with that, though:).

I've wondered a couple of times about a kind of 'time-stop' spell for an RTS. It would be as annoying as hell to the other players who couldn't move any units during it but it would be one absolutely deadly ability for something:D.

That's the 'disconnect notification' spell in Warcraft III isn't it?

12-09-2002, 13:50:53
Yep:D. Rachel used that way too much on you until I reminded her it was unsporting to play against newbies that way:).

I hate that article. It's sounds so much like propaganda.

12-09-2002, 14:58:05
And it doesn't even manage to sell the game to me.

12-09-2002, 17:10:31
No it really doesn't make me want to buy the game at all.

Between the hideously complext WarcraftIII, and the unfathomably complex Age of Myth, even I haven't got the time of energy for another RTS.

13-09-2002, 08:15:24
Especially not one that doesn't even sound good from the developers own press briefing?

Yes true but it's still gay.

13-09-2002, 11:11:48
We'll have to wait for Venom's review to know that for sure......... ;)

It's gay.

Now this RTS can be panned before buying for sure:).

Sounds like... Empire Earth based model with some Civ tossed in. 'Borders that expand based on Civic research, etc'

'Cannon Time'. Was I the only person that got this impression when you hit that, all the other players heard, 'Cannon Time... da, da-da da, da duh, da da, Can't touch that!' in my head as they talked about that?

I'll wait until it's on bargain sale prices, I think, before I try that out. Risk meets RTS? Ugh!

Now I think I'd have to type "Stop... cannon time." as I was playing.
