Mike, perhaps the Unholy could use some of these ideas.

They are (really...) 'Hammerfall', 80īs style power metal. Iīm sure Snappy hates them (nothing to disect...) ;)

Funkodrom
24-07-2002, 11:05:12

Funkodrom

They remind me so much of classic Iron Maiden.

Kamrat X
24-07-2002, 11:56:23
Actually itīs more of a Pretty Maids/Manowar kinda thing. But Jocke Cans voice sounds a bit like Dickinsonīs.

Of course there's lots to dissect. I could analyse their astounding ability to not rock, for instance. :D

Oh yes, I hear speaking French is the new leather trousers. Very rock.

Jesus, leather trousers? That's so 1650! We do live in the eighteenth century, you know.

Sean
24-07-2002, 14:30:13
Good leather trousers never go out of fashion. Because they never come into fashion.

Funkodrom
24-07-2002, 14:34:20
France have never produced a band that comes close to rocking.

Are you forgetting Plastic Bertrand? Oh wait, they were Belgian.

Kamrat X
24-07-2002, 16:27:15

Debaser

Isn't Dave Brubeck jazz? Surely if he was too rock he might spill his esspresso on his little jazzy beard.

Kamrat X

 Youīre not overly found of jazz I take it?

Nope, too fucking arty-farty. Fucking soft-rock nonsense, I want something I can nod my head to, not lethargic "ooh I'm so technical and proggy" grooveless nonsense.

You can't make rock too simple.

Kamrat X
24-07-2002, 21:41:47
Iīve never thought Iīd see 'lethargic' and 'proggy' as a description of power metal. You really donīt have a clue, do you?

Metal is music for pussies who can't take real rock, and need their soft-rock-like mainstreamed-up substitute to cocoon into. Yes, it's played loud, but lets face it: Barbara Streisand would be scary played at an insane volume as well, and it has about the same amount of dancable rock 'n' roll fun as Metal does. You know why you people headbang? It's cause there's no natural beat to your music, no groove to drive you along, so you have to really concentrate to get anything out of the laid-back layers of bassy noise.

Proggy cause it tries to hide the essence of rock in soft, cushiony quilted Velvet, Lethargic cause it couldn't make a spastic move.

You are just jealous that they can play guitar faster than you.

Kamrat X
25-07-2002, 10:06:33
Snappy, youīre awfully narrowminded for a music critic (or is it just because...?)

I would have you know that I am by no means a 'metal head'. I listen to everything from Duke Ellington to At The Gates via Radiohead and Pet Shop Boys with a heavy dosage of Pink Floyd and Frontline Assembly thrown in.

I listen to music I enjoy and I donīt ponce around trying to be soooo alternative

None of this 'la de da I only listen to music noone else understands and/or listen to'-crap.

Sad, really... :(

Funkodrom
25-07-2002, 10:27:05
He likes accusing anyone who listens to any metal of being a metal head. He can't handle us liking other forms of music as well. I like a lot of music that critics think is shit. I just don't care. :D

Kamrat X
25-07-2002, 10:41:48

Funkodrom, great stuff! I found the songs at LoudMedicine as well. Sounds a bit like Robert Calverts solo stuff (Occasional Hawkwind singer/crackpot).

But the bandname/demo title is a bit misleading isnīt it? :cute:

Hereīs a kick ass band from my hometown.

http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/295/eternal_autumn.html

Old school metal to the core! :D

Funkodrom
26-07-2002, 10:10:44
Yes, we're going to change the name for that reason.

Glad you liked it. I'll check out that band when I have a little more time.
