According to Gamespot.com (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2874372,00.html), a film based on the computer games (not the original comics??) is in the works. It will be written and directed by Paul Anderson of Resident Evil fame/infamy (delete as appropriate).

Films based on computer games are shit.

Except for Tomb Raider, that was brilliant.

I have very little hope or even interest at this point that the Alien franchise will recover from the last few films. It's lost the visceral thrill that the first two movies gave us. The choice of Anderson to direct doesn't help my confidence, either.

But the alien will have witty dialogue in this one.

It's been in the works for about 10 years now. They've gone through about 5 different scripts ranging from covering the comic series to putting the Predators hunting on an Alien planet to a script that sort of mirros the video games.

Thank you Venom, I thought I was going mad because I was sure that I had heard rumours about this movie before.

No problem. Movies be a hobby of mine. The rumors you heard were probably right on target. They've resurfaced lately because I think they just did a rewrite on the script.

Paul Anderson (Event Horizon, Resident Evil) has been payed to write and direct. At least that's the most recent news.

Thats what you get when you quote a news item that quoted another news item... I thought that it was a new thing..

A mate at work mentioned that Kurt Russell was possibly attached to it??

Maybe once. But if they just attached the director and write I doubt he was ever officially attached. Plus Soldier killed his career.
