Can anyone recommend a good server for Deathmatch UT that isn't loaded with "pros" who memorize all the respawn points and power up locations?
I'm just looking to have some fun, be being fragged with one shot is very annoying.
I have a cable modem and am located in the North East.
Thanks

Practice makes perfect as they say! Learn those respawn points! practice offline! :D

I think with most online FPS though you'd find it very hard to find a 'newbie' server with 'newbies'. You'll just have to stick with it till you get that one cool kill that gets you hooked (as what happened to me in CS), then become a pro yourself ;)

I hear ya, but I'm just looking for some fun... and I don't think hanging about respawn points is a whole lot of fun.
I like the running around part. It's just frustrating when you have those one or two jokers who have all the power ups all the time.

Actually I have a friend who's got a private UT server set up only for people he knows. That's the best - just like the old D&D days, but we live in several different states.
Unfortunately my friends have a hard time timing things properly as we are all family men.

If you are looking for fun don't play Unreal Tournament. Play a good online game like Tribes 2, RtCW, Counterstrike et al

UT is very, very poor.

I play UT because it's what i have...
I've played Red Faction on-line at a friends and may buy that this weekend.
I can't get into 'team' related games because I can't really commit to the time and would hate to pull out on everyone in the middle of a game. So I play deathmatch type games on-line.
I've heard the new Wolfenstein looks really good for multiplayer...

Yeah, but Wolfenstein is very team oriented MP.

It is a good multiplayer game. Much like Team Fortress Classic.

Does it have a Deathmatch mode?

Nope. Have you tried Quake 3 Arena there are some very, very good deathmatch modes in that?

There is no point asking for good servers on a forum, trust me. Best just getting a program like Gamespy Arcade and ask people in the chat what the good servers are.

You know...A friend at my last job gave me a copy of Quake 3 Arena...before I had a cable modem so I didn't do on-line gaming.
I have to dig through my games when I get home now.
