I wanted to get neverwinter nights particularly after reading the threads here, but I'm not going to. The absolute cheapest I've seen it anywhere was $55. NO GAME is worth $55. No game is worth much more than like $40. Suffice to say, I will probably loss all interest in it before the price goes down enough for me to be willing to buy it. Morrowind falls into the same category too it appears. I'm not too into the Warcraft series, but it's a safe bet Warcraft3 will be that much also. If I get a game at all, it looks like it's going to be AoW2 since you can order it for like $40 only directly from them. I don't wish to do a pay for play online game either, and I've yet to stumble on the next 'Netro' online either. I still want to play Literati with Kell of course :D, but I'm about due for something else.

To me, Pro Evolution Soccer is almost worth buying a PS2 for.

I bought a PS2 for Pro Evo Soccer, it was worth it.

$55 is a good night out for two people, or perhaps a couple of nights out if you are smart. A good game should give you days worth of play. Not sure what you're basing this on, Koshko.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Fucking bastard posting under my name.....

for 55 I want a GREAT night out.

However if i was going out for a meal and then to the pub based on the adverts they'd placed i'd expect the restuarant to have been built and the pub to actually have some beer in it.

er...meaning maybe if games actually got finished properly they might be worth the money.

Apart from pro evo soccer, it was well worth getting Funk to buy a p2s for that.

Yes, you should get one for 55 pounds. Likewise, $70 is a bit much to pay for a game, too:p.

DAMMIT STOP POSTING AS ME!

ps. I get less play time out of the average 40 game than 2 nights out which is why I'm so reluctant to buy games these days.

Thief I and II are both only 5!

Funkodrom

Serious Sam is more my kind of FPS.

The Shaker

I can't believe i made the pounds to dollars error.
Yeah a game for 2.50 would be ok.

Keep seeing thief and passing it buy.
maybe one day.

I find it a lot better to wait till the games come out as cheap
sets packaged with other games.
There are a lot of cheap, great games that i could buy, and by the time i'm finished the top games would be cheap again.

Well that's the theory anyway :(

The Shaker
14-07-2002, 11:31:19
still not finished SS :(
Then again i've got more unfinished games here than finished.

Own Goal.

(Thief is not an FPS, for those wondering why.)

What I mean is I'm not a big hide and seek fan, I like shooting stuff.

The Shaker

You arn't good at hide and seek.
I can always see you when you try and hide behind that tree.

How about Hidden & Dangerous, also 5?

Funkodrom
14-07-2002, 11:54:24
Is that also like hide and seek?

Sean

Best of both worlds.

Well, I saw Warcraft 3 costing the equivalen of ~$30. Add ten more bucks and you'll probably get the price in US stores.

Not even close. Best Buy and other places are all selling Warcraft3 for $60.

Well I wouldn't know. I am going to die alone. :(
I'm basing this on my cheapness and nostalgia for the good ole days and the fact that a mere couple of years ago games over $40-45 after a couple of weeks of being out was about non-existant.

$55 isn't bad for a game! You've been spoiled by these $40 types! I'll be getting Neverwinter Nights soon enough myself. Either that or Morrowind... oh, decisions, decisions.

We haven't seen NWN on sale anywhere, and we've been checking the Sunday ads (guess that's not we, that's SHE :)). Fortunately, we had a general 10$ off Best Buy coupon from somewhere.

there's a Mad Monk posting over on the NWN boards (check the Monk thread in general). He seems a bit younger than our own version. :)

I've spent almost $750 just to play Morrowind, and I don't even have the game yet!

Still, the new PC I got makes Tropico rock :D

I hope you have a Geforce 3 (or the REAL Geforce 4) so you get the cool water effects in Morrowind.

Can we have a guarantee on that one as well, otherwise that could be someone else pretending to back up the last one again. Or something.

LadyRachel

Like Ned would be pedantic enough to correct spelling?

Funkodrom

MDA, no I don't have a GeForce4, though I plan on getting one hopefully sometime this year. At the moment I've got a crappy $20 nVidia Riva TNT2 card with 32Mb of SDRAM. It's adequate, and it's all I could afford at the time to get the system running (even after getting $180 off the price of XP Professional).

Even so, it's still way better than the on-board video from the old PC! I can switch pretty much anything up to full detail without any problems.

Too bad about the water effects.

Its nice to be able to zoom in on those spring break tourist sunbathing beauties, at least. :)

Well when one of these games get cheaper, I may buy them although I only got like a month until college again which will cut into my time-to-burn time especially considering I'll be starting the dreaded (due to the sheer time-consumption put into research and building and troubleshooting) 'senior project'.
