Another Tekken game? Will I still be able to win some matches just using the same few moves I learnt for Marshall Law in Tekken? Read the preview here (http://www.gamespot.co.uk/stories/previews/0,2160,2108591,00.html). It's another gamespot link, sorry, we don't get many preview copies of games *hint*. It seems, from this preview, that they've dropped the tag mode from Tekken Tag Tournament which I quite liked but the major change is that now the stages play a part in the action.

And this time it will look just like the Arcade version.

I know you're being sarcastic but the screenshots do look good, I have to admit that.

As long as they keep Bruce Lee's clone in the game it will be alright.

previews have been around for a loooong time - Edge reviewed the full jap. version recently and gave it 6 or 7.

Tag mode is gone, arenas are proper 3d (i.e. you can get pushed up against a wall and battered or escape from a battering, etc.), some other stuff.

I'll buy it, but it's going to have be good to beat virtua fighter 4 (and salvage the remains of it's reputation after piss-poor TTT)

Why are you going to buy it then? Not sure I understand.

well 6 or 7 doesn't mean bad, it means better than average. They gave virtua fighter 4 7

and i am a very big tekken fan - so when TTT wasn't as brilliant as T3 i felt let down...

but what i have heard about the improvements for T4 has given me new optimism.

I might pick it up second hand though, i'm in a terrible games backlog (playing neverwinter nights, need to finish playing metal gear solid 2, need to finish final fantasy IV and start final fantasy V and VI. Haven't even bought final fantasy X. Wish i had more time to spend on gran turismo 3, and i've Just started playing max payne and Phantasy star online again for some reason. Aaaaarrghhh!!! I need longer days!!!)

That’s true. Edge is one of the few magazines where five out of ten means that a game is average.

Still, why Tekken when Super Smash Bros. Melee is available :D?

I didn't really mean the score actually. I just thought you might be all tekkened out. :D

My favourite thing about Tekken 3 is when you choose to continue, it cuts from the voice saying ‘you lose’ to ‘continue’, so it says ‘you continue’.

Tekken is a great example of console games cruelly making you play single player so you can play all the options in multiplayer, that sucks. You should be able to unlock the characters just playing multiplayer.

That is a good thing. And you can play multi-single-player, too, just go take it in turns on the single-player stages.

Super Smash Bros. apparently unlocks Mewtwo after 700 versus matches. I haven’t played that many yet, so I wouldn’t know. I’ve still got a few characters to unlock, and several levels.

No it's not. It's really annoying having to play the SP cups to get the teams in PES. If I wanted to play single player games I'd buy them.

That Mewtwo thing sounds good, that's a great way to work unlocking stuff.

:hmm:. I have looked up the challenges since that post, and some of them are evil. For example:
To unlock the Poké Floats stage, you must play at least 200 matches in VS. mode (without quitting).

Oooh... that sounds like a good night in. I approve!

200 matches x customary 3 minute match = 600 minutes = 10 hours. And that’s not including loading times, character choosing, level choosing, and boredom.

Funkodrom

Switch the match to 1 min.

Sean

Still over three hours.

Venom

3 hrs? No problem.

Sean

Well, not as such, but 1 minute matches are less fun.

Venom

Fine. 10 hours. No problem.

Yeah, that's just waking up hungover at about 10 and playing until it's time to go out in the evening again. With 5 or 6 people and a really good game that'd be easy enough.

Or it might be a joke:).
