What is a good but inexpensive one.

I want to retry the whole pc recording thing, and I think it would make things a hell of alot easier than using staves etc.

Easier? Naah, but much nicer-sounding. Manual imput is so... mechanical.

I've got one connected, but in all honesty rarely use it other than for playing around on while waiting for the 20-second flood control to dissappear.* Usually various Baseball Ground Jingles.

I prefer using a wav-to-midi converter program. But that's 'cause my voice is the only instrument I have any sort of mastery over.

*There's your answer, mike!

I'm having problems with midi and analogue on pc so I was going to do everything but guitar and vocals on pc and then pu stuff onto four or eight track.

Any piece of crap with keys and a midi output would be my instinct.

Oh no; you'll want Touch Sensitivity at the very least. Potentially full-sized piano keys as well.

Back when I read PC Format (Laz, kill me now) they used to recommend one. Can't remember what it was called.

Apparently the Nord Lead series are the best, I don't know how expensive they are though.
