Actually he's surprising efficient for having such mental power too. The average is still supposed to be over 30mpg. Actually getting that is another question entirely.

Definitely beats that old Peugeot 106 I used to have :p

Funko
14-04-2015, 16:17:18
Haha, I think that transported all our stuff to and from a gig once didn't it?! You couldn't do that in your new car, thus the 106 was better. ;)

Honda Accord hybrid, 42 - 44 mpg

195 hp?

Time will tell if the fuel savings make up the cost difference, but we have a habit of keeping our cars 10+ years (we kept the old Civic for 15).

I have misgivings about hybrids, especially the manufacture of their fuel cells. Very dirty. The only benefit I really see is huge torque :cute:

Our other car is a Prius; 45 mpg and about 10 hp. Good torque though. :D
I have heard over and over again about the battery issues. My feeling is that the fuel savings, the emission savings and the reuse and recycling of the batteries are all arguments in favor od hybrids and e-cars. IMHO

Citroen Saxo VTR with 120bhp. Basically a mini go-kart that spends most of its time in my garage - really have to figure if it's worth keeping.

Yesterday was fun blatting around the country lanes around Cardiff.

Nice!

I got a new car a few weeks ago, went with the s-line black edition:

Wanted the A7 but couldn't justify the extra cost (apart from the far superior styling!)

Doubt it. 120bhp...such smalll numbers  Still, the mother-in-law-to-be has a pink Suzuki Alto. I think I'd die of embarrassment if I had to drive it.

A7s are nice. The missus fancied us getting an S7 (or perhaps an RS7 but too pricey). But as we don't have kids I went for the TTRS which is crazily quick with how light it is.

What variety/colour did you go for Higgsy?

I filled the whole tank up which is about 100 litres for 50 Riyals. That's less than a tenner.

But..... If you look on YouTube there are a load of reviews from the USA where they complain about the fuel consumption of this thing. Some guy complained that he only got 14 miles per gallon on his. 14! I don't think I have ever got that - clearly he is not driving in Phoenix and blasting the aircon like here.

Off to Bahrain this weekend which is a bit like 100 km round trip. With the wait on the causeway for passports and customs, I'd better fill up before I go :)

Provost Harrison
05-05-2015, 18:02:28
14 mpg. Fine by me, takes the emphasis off me as the planet-raping bastard :)

Nearly had a project in Bahrain but never went ahead. If I was doing work over there, I'd definitely want aircon :)

2.0 TDI - had the TSI before and it was just to uneconomical as I do about 15,000 miles a year. It's Monsoon Gray S-Line 'Black Edition' meaning it's got the propeller alloys but more importantly the Bang and Olufsen sound system.

I thought "clean diesel" was an oxymoron.
I do envy the sound system though. :grr:

Sorry, I meant uneconomical as in I was getting 20-25mpg as opposed to 45mpg with diesel. In the UK you pay vehicle excise duty based on emissions which for diesel engines are very low so I only pay £30 per annum.

Provost Harrison
07-05-2015, 14:27:53
Wow, it think that's lower fuel economy than my TTRS.
