Finally got around to watching this. Half of the movie is about stuff that has nothing to do with the story. I guess that's "ambiance". 15 minutes of mood and credits between the first scene (which did not set the hook) and the beginning of the rest of the movie is too long, I'm simple minded and I've already lost interest.

Waste of a lot of good actors.

Happy Feet was marginally better because it had good music.

Burn After Reading was marginally better because Brad Pitt came out of the closet AND got shot in the head.

MOBIUS liked this movie. :tizzy:

No, my wife already gave me the tsk tsk for that. :)

She didn't recall reading that particular book, and also did not like the movie.

P.S. Did you see the 1979 TV mini-series with Alex Guiness?
Classically classy!
p.p.s. Read the books first: Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy; The Honorable Schoolboy; and Smiley's People.

Alec Guinness? ...now that's a name I've not heard in a long time.

I haven't seen it. :) Maybe Netflix has it.

I liked it because I hadn't read the book.

I imagine I would have given it a 7/10 otherwise.

I hardly ever like a movie I've read the book of. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and some Sherlock Holmes are the exceptions. Love the new Sherlock!

I would include "The Last of the Mohicans." :bounce:
