View Full Version : A question about British soft drinks.

So I bought some Vimto the other day and I have to say it's not my cup of tea. Too sweet and not enough carbonation. I did like Irn Bru though the color was a bit strange.

So what other British soft drinks are out there just so I can slowly make my way through the list?

Good job buying that and thinking it would be tea.

Did not like ginger beer, but it was easy to find in touristy areas near London. It was like highly concentrated ginger ale.

Hmm I like Vimto but I'm not a big carbonation fan. Irn Bru was a bit too sweet, but ok. I love ginger beer, nice and spicy hot. With those caveats here's a big list.

Probably Tizer is the other major UK soft drink.

Lot's of small companies doing various things but I doubt you'd find them.

I'm partial to the Fentiman's range: http://www.fentimans.com/

Apparently they've recently started their conquest of North America: http://www.drinkfentimans.com/

There's Ginger Beers and there's Ginger Beers: Theirs is a good one!

They also do a decent tonic water to complement your gin...

Another favourite is Lucozade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucozade): I used to drink my gran's supply as a child before it became fashionable as an energy drink.

I still lament the disappearance of Quattro...:( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quatro_(beverage)

I love ginger beer. Stewart's makes a firey one here in the States, but it's very hard to find.

the ginger part was fine, but it was absolutely saturated with sugar

sweeter than sweet tea

Thin it out with some vodka, then.

Hmmm, Fentimans website lists a store selling them just three blocks from my house. Oddly enough it is a Korean supermarket.

Hmm, went to Hmart today on my lunch break and they didn't have any which was odd as the Fentimans website said they carried it.

You fucking Americans and your convenience lifestyles!

Suck it up and grow some balls! When you finally track this shit down, it's going to taste so much better because it was an effort to find...:)

I don't even think Canadians like Canada Dry.

Maybe they don't have that much and it sells out fast 'cause it's so good?

If John Cleese is selling it, it must be good.

Like those crunchy frogs!

My father ate crunchy frogs legs at a buffet once.

He didn't realize the bones were still in them.

Oerdin

I've had frog's legs at the county fair but I can't say they tasted like much as all I could taste was the breading, the oil, and what ever it was they seasoned them with. The meat itself didn't seem to have much flavor at all.

Maybe they just weren't cooked right but it's hard to mess up breading and deep frying something.
