A survey of people in 26 countries record their attitudes towards other countries and it turns out Germany is currently the world's most popular country with 59% of respondents around the world saying it plays a positive roll in global affairs. Poor Greece didn't make the list. :violin:

Only Greece maintains its Germanophobia, with 52% giving a negative rating.

I don't dislike germany if a country it's its people.
I haven't run across many germans although I do consider a friend a german person with which we had some financial business and he proved to be very trustworthy and I really liked him 'cause he was very cultured and nice person (of course he's married to a greek woman so that explains it)
I also have some vague recollections of some very polite german girl or two but it's true I've never had prolonged entretiens with german people. It wasn't on purpose though. We apparently don't click or fate hasn't thown us in similar situations.

Also in the army, I was the only one to help a german commander of a submarine, in part because noone could communicate in some acceptable level of english with him and in part because noone really knew how to act polite and they acted like peasants (and I almost got in serious trouble for that).

(I dont know what tory amos used) but i was a navy swewing lady as we were called. I only had a colt, an m1 and a g3. the infantry had the bad ass m16s. Although I never was a gun freak. I did my practices and that was that and then i had them only on guard duty (and the bullets were in the pack, never loaded).
Also i didnt drink in the army :D

p.s. and eurovision is the real likeleness gauge. everyone knows that. greece 6th, germany 21th :D ;)

The incident with the german officer was funny. I was commanded to escort him, seeing I could speak english fluently.
The guy was formal and polite. I was still grasped with pan-european feelings and just saw in him an ally.
I lead him to the place he had to be and the poor guy wanted some photocopies. I lead him to the appropriate place but the system was blocked.
I said" it's blocked.
They tell me: so wahts? fuck him

I thought, this is not appropriate of the Greek Army.
So I suggested i take him somewhere else.
(btw he had sensed the hostility by now, but we have a code of conduct, and I'll follow that)
So I get the clear to lead him to the other place.
He gets there. He makes the photocopies he wanted.
But that didnt please the f....... head that was there because he thought that exposed him (that was entireily his fault though)
And he treatened me and my commander with severe disciplinary action.
Of course nothing happened and I think I represented the Greek Navy in good fashion.

Of course, having served there (obgigatory) I can positively say that anyone of our neighboors attacking this country is fucked. i'm pretty serious. it's like locust armor weaponry)

Now I got an army hard on

If you were actually wearing your uniform while on duty, you did better than most.

I had a friend in the US Navy involved in joint exercises with Greece years ago. He was a little shocked.

They played in the nood? :D

25-05-2013, 20:07:19
Wait ... More people think mainly positive about the US than mainly negative?

I'm ...

27-05-2013, 03:36:23
Yes! Please stop doing it! The amount of times I have heard sarcastic comments like, "Oh sure, like we really believe you are Canadian" when travelling.:(
