View Full Version : I hate soccer but I liked this...

Pretty proud of my city and this team. We now have a women's team as well and they appear to be better.

I asked my soccer fanatic friends if the Timbers were similar in talent/skill to Euro teams. They laughed in my face and told me I need to watch and select a BPL team to root for... I'm just getting a tiny appreciation for the skillful passing, setup etc in MLS,but I struggle mightily with the pace/score/rules. Too much NFL and NBA I guess??

I was going to like Liverpool, but I think they have a cannibal on their team...

Still and all, Timbers Army and our "pitch" I believe it's called...pretty awesome!

Great story.

BTW - EPL not BPL, Scotland have their own league (SPL) :D

And I'm sure there are some European teams at a similar level, there are European teams at every level from the best in the world to a bunch of fat middle aged men of equivalent fitness to your average Bowling team.

"Barclay's" starts with an "E"?!

Ah. English Premier League - Other than TV announcers who are contractually obliged to no-one calls it Barclay's Premier League - never occurred to me that's what you might mean. :o

All the Americans I see talking about it online seem to call it the EPL (we just call it the Premiership, Premier League)

Good to know! I'm such a newb when it comes to this... Obviously one of the roadblocks to getting on board with the game. It seems massively complex from my angle.

Just think of it as hockey with less body-checking!

That's exactly how I see it! But I don't care for hockey lol!!!
