a great comedy

there's so much laughter to be had about the beards, costumes etc
plus i think it was the intention of the director to instill humour in that movie.

(horribly agiographic (halo above his head - as would be expected from hollywood but it is expected so np)

some questions arose though

1. did lincoln made all the fuss about the slaves because he was afraid they would come after him after the end of the war for illegally freeing the slaves during the war?
was he acting for micropolitical benefit or did he really thought that was an evil thing that needed to change?

2. he was republican? i thought those were conservatives.
and to make it even more strange, the democrats were against the abolition of slavery???

The politics of the American Civil War (a.k.a. War of Northern Aggression) are complicated. I am too lazy to go into it, but Lincoln was a cool president.
