Sorry OW, stole your title.

For me it's going in for the gamma knife. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/00/Gamma_Knife_Graphic.jpg/220px-Gamma_Knife_Graphic.jpg

Don't know exactly when, Neurology , Radiology and Plastic Surgery all have to agree.

There is only a tiny bit of tumor left, Rachel says the drawing of it makes it look like rat shit. I've heard of bats in the belfry, not rats, but could explain much :D

The major huge tumor was removed back in August, the report was it wasn't cancerous. I lost my right eye though, and have a skin graft over the right half of my face...the surgeons went in through my face. Eventually the plastic surgeons will give me a new face. I asked for Ursula Andress....they just laughed at me :D

I was on oxycodones in the hospital. Made me even crazier than usual. I hallucinated that I was in State College, PA, not Morgantown which is where I was. I saw flies all over, my hospital room was picked up and attached to my house. I heard voices calling my name. I don't do well on drugs, Venom can have um!

Holy crap, I am so in the dark about things.

I'll get a pile of wishbones on turkey day and make zmama good wishes.

Here's to good results in the end.

Thanks, love me some turkey!

Funko knew I was in the hospital.I had a picture of Sophie to cheer me up. Rachel told Vinnie too. He got the gory details... Germans like that. :bouncmsk: She refuses to post at CG so not much news for the most.

Creepy crawlies are one of the most common side effects of opiate painkillers, except people feel them, not see them. :p

My MIL has been very happy with her gamma knife results. Everything is shrinking. I hope things go as well for you.

Let's face it a Gamma Knife must be one of the coolest sounding treatments, or weapon upgrades, you can have.

My brother thinks the same as you Funko.

Dyl Ulenspiegel

All the best for that weapons upgrade.

I don't think they have targeting systems accurate enough to use a gamma knife on something in your brain.

Funko

Just to be clear, I am saying you have a tiny brain.

My brother has gone under the 'gamma knife'. He is still a 'know it all engineer' but at least the excruciating pain he had over half of his face is under control.
The drugs are a nasty bargain. Not everyone tolerates them as well as OW42++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +.

A muy happy recovery to you Zmama and tell Mad Squirrel and Zpapa to post. Lady Rachel should be free of all of us perverts, idiots, foreigners, Germans, Reading balding accountants, and me. Oh, and, especially, Venom.:gasmaske_eek:

p.s. I owe you and OW a story of my time in 5 East. :nervous:

forget all this feel better stuff. I've got a better plan!

Make everyone else feel much, much worse. And then you're better off because everyone else is worse off. I think this is why everyone loves socialism so much.

This is something I can help with. To start with I'll post naked pictures of me, in all my obese glory. Then I'll post naked pictures of me eating.

Been 4 days since surgery... suffering. You can have the thread title zmama.... if it is gonna help you more than it helped me. I wish you luck and full recovery in your medical dealings. Sucks, dun't it? :D

j.... zmama is like my wife in that she doesn't tolerate drugs well. My wife has been struggling since her surgery 3 days ago. Not eveyone had a past that was sort of a warmup for the future, like I did.

In all actuality though, it probably has helped in making it easier to tolerate the drugs... but i still must say, I am awfully sick and tired of them as well. Such is life. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone and to all that need it, get well soon. :)

It makes you wonder why bad things always seem to happen to good people.

How long after the gama knife treatment will it take to know if the treatment was a success?

MDA
20-11-2012, 11:37:30
You can assume it worked if the patient hulks out upon receiving the bill for treatment.

Funko
20-11-2012, 12:24:20
I think the interesting thing is why humans tend to think that there should be some correlation between being good and bad things not happening to you.

They will know in real time...there will be an MRI going at the same time.

Crappy doctor's appointment today. Seems there will be no gamma knife for me, they can't fit the helmet. Really they could have told me long ago :(

Now I'm scared, yes really. I have a choice of regular radiation treatments ( the kind that make you lose your hair and vomit) or travel to Pittsburgh and get cyber knifed http://www.upmccancercenter.com/radonc/cyberknife.cfm

sounds awful,

but that cyber knife machine looks awesome, sort of thing a Bond villain might have. If you go for that make sure you do the whole "Do you expect me to talk" thing.

Hope what ever you choose works.

MDA
30-11-2012, 19:35:29
My mother-in-law did both.

Getting saran-wrapped for the cyberknife sounded like much more fun than having a halo screwed on to her skull.

zmama
30-11-2012, 19:40:31
Yeah, they couldn't fit me for a halo....go figure!

And which I choose is up to the insurance company, of course.

The new news is IMRT

http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?pg=imrt

Got more info today, never knew the tumor was involved with bone, too.
Why can't doctors tell a person everything instead of dribbling out info?

Funko

They need to think of a better name for that.

I'm going to call it the brain phaser.
