View Full Version : Rough few years.

Just thought I would stop by and actually say something instead of just reading incognito. Been through so much over the past few years , I would bore you all with a book about medical problems. Surprised I'm still alive to say the least.

Anyway, hope you all keep on keeping on and maybe I'll talk and maybe not. :O Who really cares, though. :shrugs:

Glad to hear you are still alive. :D

Any day where you're alive enough to watch some porn is a good day.

17-09-2012, 22:09:42
 OW!

18-09-2012, 12:38:39
Hey good to read you again!

18-09-2012, 13:01:35
so how is the porn nowadays?

18-09-2012, 13:13:50
what did you do to Mightytree?

18-09-2012, 16:47:55
and how're the daughters doing?

19-09-2012, 10:23:14
I haven't heard from MT for as long as you guys haven't heard from me.

My daughters are okay I guess. All three have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis , inherited from their dad. My middle daughter has it the worse from it just like me.... the deformities and pain in the joints... she can't work, and has other prevailing medical issues she needs to have resolved... and she's struggling with no medical insurance and living back home with us right now.

She is hurting bad like I am and has basically inherited the stuff that I have almost down to a tee.

Today I had rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder, just the latest surgery in a long succession of recent surgeries.

I am actually right now going through a process with Social Security in fileing for permanent disability benefits and basically it will become early retirement at about 56 probably when we finish the process. And I should also start to collect my 2 pensions after I get approved for my SS benefits. Then I will just wait till 59 1/2 to also get my 401k.

I should actually be doing better financially under all those circumstances than what I was doing while working (haven't been working since may of this year, on disability from some other recent procedures and still out now).

And we feel we will definitely get SS permanent disabilty benefits because....

I have been fighting the feet problems for like 12 years now, getting harder and harder to walk. Also have hip and lower back issues that screw up my walking... dang spinal cord discs.

My whole body is racked with rheumatoid arthritis and the autoimmune disease is destroying my joints(Yes I am treating it but it is not curable and the progression can be slowed. I also have osteoarthritis all over and lots of bone spurs.

I am diabetic.

I have just this past month now been diagnosed with asthma and have to have that emergency inhaler with me everywhere I go.

I have had 2 heart cathetirizations, the most recent was on august 8th of 2011. They carted me out of work on a stretcher thinking it was a serious heart attack (yes that is needless to say the day of my last cigarette... that's what it took to make me quit). Turns out I have 60 to 80% blockage in my right side coronary arteries. They call it coronary arterie disease. The heart is actually pretty good except for a feint heart murmur which my sister informed me that I have had, just like her, since I was About 8 or 9 yrs. old.

When they went in with this heart cath... they nicked a nerve and another vein and after they were done, I almost bled to death and had and still have tremendous pain in the groin artery area that they nicked.

I have been going to a pain management doctor, referred by my rheumatologist and first pushed to go that route by my orthopaedic doctor because all he was able to do for my pain was keep prescribing pain killers for me and my usage kept increasing over the years. This pain management doctor has helped me to cut down on the hydrocodone usage and to help me manage the pain. He gives me MS Contin to take twice a day (Morphine Sulfate)60mg ea. , and I take just one hydrocodone 10/325 every 6 hours... 4 times a day or less if I can get by without it. It is a lot less than when I was just takeing hydro's whenever I needed them, sometimes up to 10 or 12 pills a day. Not a good thing.

I have had carpal tunnell surgery on both wrists, I have had 3 fingers on my right hand and one finger on my left hand done a trigger release for each finger as they used to just lock down closed and it was hard and painful to snap them open.

I had to have a ganglion cyst removed from my left wrist as it's location on the bottom side was right on a cluster of nerves and right through a main vein in the wrist.

Due to my many surgery and health problems, I tend to periodically suffer from anxiety... Have to take Xanax 1mg per day if or as needed up to 3 times a day.

This next one is great... :P ... I have had to have the first knuckle (the pointer finger knuckle) on my right hand, cut out along with some of the pointer finger bone and have a Rubber Hinge and Rubber Knuckle put in, due to the rheumatism destroying the joint so bad I couldn't even barely touch the knuckle without having actual tears coming out of my eyes. That surgery was done just back in may of this year. Needless to say, I have maybe now only 20 to 30% movement of that joint( which is better than zero... but really not that great, better than nothing).

And basically the rotator cuff surgery that I have just had on my left shoulder will in fact have to be done as well on the right shoulder in about 2 months from now.

Anyway, I told you guys I had a book of medicals to write... I'm not sure if I listed everything but you get the gyst of my ordeals, which I would hope you understand this is why I have been really scarce these past few years. I read and kept up on you guys but never really had it in me to participate fully.

Also my wife has had a few things we have dealt with for her as well... heart attack, orthopaedic surgeries etc... Don't want to get into a bunch more now but that is my reasons and I guess my excuse for not being around.

Thanks guys, if you actually took or take the time to read this, it took forever just to type with screwed up hands.

Any way, I want to thank you all for being friends for like 12/13 years... been a long strange trip j.

I feel pretty confident we should win our Social Security case, take care and I'll keep you all updated if you want and answer questions if you have any.

And continued good health to you all and God Bless You Folks... for you never know how you have it, until you "Walk In Another Man's Shoes" Later folks... Tom Walle

Ouch, that's a lot of shit. You don't really appreciate health until you lose it...

Hope it gets better and all the best for your SS case. And , regardless.

19-09-2012, 12:48:13
Counterglow, so awful people have to have surgery to prevent them posting.

Good luck Tom!

And retiring at 56, that is in 14 years?!?!?!?

19-09-2012, 14:31:25
OW, sorry, sounds like no fun at all :(

One of my brothers-in-law (a pipefitter) just had both shoulders done, and recovering from that alone was rough. I can't imagine stacking everything else on top of that. You're one tough nut. I hope things get easier to manage.

I'm a little jealous of the retirement though. :p

Aaah, retirement....

20-09-2012, 01:27:03
The retirement at an earlier age is about the only positive and good thing that I have been able to take from all this. It's God's gift to me for having to deal with everything else.

I appreciate the comments and thoughts Dyl. You too MDA.

20-09-2012, 01:27:50
Thanks as well, Mike.

(I haven't changed much.)

Old people have to shout, you see. Because their hearing is so bad.

Now let us harvest him for natural resources.

21-09-2012, 04:10:29
Venom, you haven't changed at all and I wouldn't ever want you to do so, either. :-P~~

Noisy, thanks for the correction... I couldn't have lived without it. :shoot:

Yes.... Keith... a longtime good buddy from Alpha Centauri days.

Sorry to hear about you and your family's problems. I'll tell you my 5 East tale some day.
If you post more here, then so will I.

Hey there, sorry to hear about all the pain.

Have you tried any of the voice control software like dragon? Wont help the cause but at least it might reduce the pain when typing!

Hope the social security case goes well.

OW you just brought a tear to a young idiots eye, hope everything works out for you! My 3rd post today for many years too and good to see you fighting the inner lurker. Main point is, you ARE still alive

03-10-2012, 13:43:35
Tom, I hope you have some "good" days soon!

04-10-2012, 05:22:54
Amazing... Scud and The Boss , wow I am overwhelmed. Great to hear from all you'ze guys that ain't dead like I ain't. :) Zmama... no walker yet but when it comes , I'm getting the Scooter chair thing whatever it is. My hands will not be able to operate a regular wheelchair and my wife promised me the scooter.

Just hanging around the house mainly rehabing the shoulder and walking 30 minutes or so each day if I can, trying to use my bones and joints instead of losing them.

I would love for you to message me j. Great to hear from you all and I was especially taken back by seeing Scud's post. Thats longtime online friendship and rememberance. Made my day. Thanks fellas.

Noisy, feel free to correct all my mistakes as I didn't bother to check anything tonight. :-P~~

04-10-2012, 05:25:01
Oh yeah, mr. poison frog.... I'm kinda glad I ain't dead yet also. Hanging in there like a tough old New Yorker.
